Anyone use it and is it safe for the decals? Got some spots to remove and vinegar & water doesn't work for me, have the Babe's already so i need to loose the spots!

Yes, it works just fine. After you do it, add wax to the boat and you will never have to use the stuff again.

Use distilled water. It makes all the difference!!!!

I just tried some stuff called "Sea Spot Go". It is awesomes stuff! SBFan have you tried that stuff before and are you interested in carrying it?

I've being using the same stuff. It is a ton cheaper and works just fine.

What kinds of spots are we talking about here? On the hull??

I use hydrochloric acid. Super cheap, nothing works better. Chances are all those cleaners have HCl in them. If it is greasy then you need to use hydroxide or caustic. This is also the prime ingredient in alot of cleaners.

Muratic acid is the generic name for HCL. Its all the same. Just like Caustic is a generic name for NaOH or Sodium Hydroxide wich most cleaners are made of.

If you need to clean water spots, scale or any minerals and some bioslimes, HCL is good. Alkali cleaners such as Caustic work good for fats, greases, organics (anything living, once living or from living) and most slime on the hull of the boat.

Water spots are mineral deposits. If you clean and rinse the boat with distilled water you would not get them but that is expensive. If you just wipe down the boat with with 1% HCL in distilled water and then shammy dry the boat will not have any deposits.

Try using 50/50 water/vinegar. You can increase the level of vinegar for really tough spots. It doesn't smell as nice as Ducky, but it definitely gets the job done.

I have used the water/vinegar mixture before, but the sea spot go stuff really brings out the shine. When I had my new tower put on, they needed to fill in some holes with new gel coat. They also fixed a scratch on the side. It looked good for the first year, but now that area looks dull where they repaired it. Another repair guy claims that vinegar water caused it to dull -- He claimed that the sea spot go would be better but I imagine that it probably has some kind of acid and would dull it as well???

I am not sure what is in the sea spot go? If it removes mineral deposits such as water spots and acid will need to be in there somewhere. Some phosphates work for spot removal too but are rarely used for this. I can not see how the vinegar hurt the gel coat. It is not organic or metallic. I used 38% HCL on my previous boat for 9 years and the gel looked like new after. HCL has a much stronger pH then vinegar.

I don't know either, it may just have have been a bad repair job. It hasn't hurt it anywhere else.
