Brand New 08 RZ4 problem need help!

First of all welcome to the Tige family and sorry for your frustration with your new boat. I too bought my 08 22ve from Ski dog and have experienced zero issues thus far. Did you buy the red or the blue RZ4? I ask because I have watched both boats sitting for quite awhile. And I know one of them was used for demo days (but then again so was mine). Good luck with your new boat.

There are many people on Tigeowners.com that can tell you how there decals got trashed due to the gas overflowing out of there tank in the spring.

With the older tanks, and the cerebrated engines that was the case. With the new tanks (vented) if you fill it in the winter, the gas WILL expand in the wormer days of early spring and run down the side off your boat.
(But I live in southern cal, where we will hit a few days of 90+ in March.
And the coldest we will get is around 40. So dew point is not a huge factor.)

I've owned my boat for many years and never once has this been an issue. I'm with Tanner on this.

Fuel problem

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem I would have them check the pickup in the tank, sounds like it has enough fuel in the system to run for a short period , the because of the pickup it runs out of fuel.

The Tige mechanic said he checked all the levels of fluid, not sure if he checked the capacitor though. I will ask him next time I talk to him.

Have him double check the blinker fluid...thats one always deceiving!

We bought the blue and white one from Ski-dog. Yes, Lake Tapps is as bad as it gets when the weather gets nice like this. What is your color scheme on your 22v? I will look for you out there. We live on Tacoma Point as you go towards party cove.

You probably won't see us too much we live in Graham and go to Alder lake quite a bit, but it has alot of loose wood floating around lately so we decided to try Tapps. The water was too rough for us and there were just too many jacka**es getting too close to us. We may try again on a evening during the week.

Whats the status on your boat? Are you working with Dave or the new dealership? I am having our 20 hour service done tomorrow by the new dealership.

I feel I should address this. This is incorrect. You actually want your tank full b4 putting away for the winter, as you don't want condensation forming inside the tank.

DO NOT FILL IT ALL THE WAY UP. when it gets warm it will come out the vent as stated above and cause problems. fill it most of the way full but not ALL.

We put some high octane fuel in there as well.

Big mistake. High octane is not needed. 87 octane works fine. Here is the issue with high octane from the pump and KONAKING can testify to it. The 90+octane fuels sit in the fuel tanks longer and in many cases the refinery is taking that fuel back because it spoils in the service station before it is sold. KONAKING had to drain his tank, perform and injector flush with special tools I sent him and his boat runs like brand new. You need to consider fuel as a problem if you bought 90+octane fuel. Or even mid grade.

I fill up and then hit the lake for an hour before I store it. This way I don't mess up my rub rail any more than it already is. . I wish I would have know about that problem sooner. Plus it helps to get the stabile into the fuel system by doing this.

Your boat is a 1999; does it have a vented tank? (Required for MFI engines).
If not they that answers the question. All I know is Tige MD, told me NEVER top off the tank in winter, so I never have. And Yes I have always done what Tige MD has told me to do. (paid off so far)

We have been working with Dave on this matter and he has someone from Tige coming to the boat on our aqua lift this morning to run a diagnostic on it. Dave has been very attentive to this matter and is working diligently to get this thing corrected. Someone from Tige has asked us to take off the gas cap and run it for about 5 minutes to see if it was getting air. Not sure the thinking on this but we are going to see if that helps.
-And yes Lake Tapps can be frusterating as there are so many unexperienced boaters with total disregard for any other watercraft around them. As residents of the Lake, we always push to make it a private lake, but it never happens. I will let everyone know the status after a diagnostic is ran this morning. ***also in response to SPBFAN, high octane fuel was never put into the tank,just regular premium unleaded,( I misunderstood my brother who had put the fuelcleaner in the tank) Whatever has caused this was whatever gas was in the tank when we bought it which was 3/4 full.

Just some FYI, on page 5-4 of the Tige Owners Manual PDF, in the "down load" section, step 5 states:

"Add fuel in accordance with the owner's manual. DO NOT fill to capacity to allow for fuel expansion."

Although you need to have the tank full for winter storage to prevent moisture/condensation build up, you do not want to fill the tank to the top EVER.

This is to test the vent,
If the vet is plugged, then after a few min you will get a vacuum in the gas tank. This can cause the fuel pump to loose pressure. EFI engines need a constant pressure on the injectors. There is a bypass line that allows circulation of the fuel. On a car the return line will go back to your tank. On my tige, the return line goes back to the fuel filter / water separator.

I never said fill it to the brim, As yes... it will overflow. I've even had my tank spit back at me while filling w/ less than a quarter of a tank in it. So There was to much air in the tank. That sucked!!!!!!! So yes, I do know that happens. BUT you do not want your tank empty. I always leave it about 5-7 gallons shy of full.

You need to reread my first post,
That is the same thing I said, that you disagreed with.
“You add it to you last take before winterizing, and run the engine for about 15 min”

This will burn off about 3 or 4 gallons ( the way I drive )

So bottom line, your tank is not FULL!
