For all you dog owners out there: Do you allow your 4 legged family members to go in the boat?

We have always brought our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (little hairy lap dog) with us in the old boat, but I am getting sick and tired of cleaning up all the dog hair that gets into the carpet. He really enjoys boating with us, but I am reluctant to take him in the brand new Z1.

I have not had a dog on the boat but I know what it is like to clean up food crumbs from those who just do not get it. I do not know how I would handle cleaning up a bunch of dog hair.

I take my golden retriever with us all the time in 07 24ve. I am like you I am tired of all the hair everywhere. He absolutley loves it, and he entertains the kids. Last week I didnt take him, my wife said that when we left with out him, that he wined and howled like she had never heard before. I felt bad so I am going to deal with the hair and just set up my shop vac. on the shelf next to the boat so I can vaccuum it out!

Having a new boat will make you do that at the beginning. After the "new" boat wears off, the dog will return to the boat.

I have a lab pup who is a great boat dog. soon as she gets on she just lays down and chills out. I have little booties for her so she doesnt scratch or tear the vynil.

Only problem I ever had with her was she peed in Chp's boat HAHA but we cleaned it up

When my dog needs to pee, he will go back on the swim platform and he will usually shake off before he climbs down in the boat. I still need to work with him and getting him to keep from running around so much and trying to snuggle with people when he is all wet!

I have 2 lab mixed dogs. I am not sure whether or not they will wear the booties. Are their nails sharp enough to do damage to the vinyl? Or is that just an extra precaution?

Am I right to worry whether or not they will wear the booties? I remember that Dom's dog wore booties at the reunion without any complaining.

NGH. My boat's 9+ years old and still no dogs allowed. If the dog needs to go boating, then we take the fishing boat (no carpet, self-bailing cockpit, center console). He loves being with us, but he is afraid of water, so I think it stresses him out a little. He's also afraid of loud noises and seems to be completely unaware that he's a retriever (he won't fetch).

But, my oldest son is very attached to him and that's been a good thing.

We ave two min pin's and a chihuahua and they have been out in the boat, we just cover most of the seating with towels and vacuum afterwards. I have a shower in the boat to get dirt/sand off them so atleast that is not an issue. I say take the dog, wakeboards and kids beat up seats as well.

If kids and their wakeboards beat up my seat again, I may have to resort to beating them (j/k)

Seriously, I had to redo my interior last year after a careless friend of my kids drug his wakeboard fins over the seat bottoms and seat backs. My kids were pretty ticked off at him, too. He's not been on our boat since. A new interior is not cheap $3500+

Nope. No animals (except for a certain few friends ) in the old or the new boat(s). They may be family but i draw the line with the boat, don't need the hassles associated.

My dog is a 200lb mastiff, we take him camping and stuff with us, but not on the boat. Although, He would make great ballast.

We used to have a basset, we bought her the dog booties, so no nails on the boat, but her size and lazy demeanor seemed to work out.

We also have a boston terrier. I could see letting her on, with booties. She is pretty much hairless, and a good temperament.
