You may have some issues finding a spot for your water intake. I originally plumbed a T-section to my existing raw water intake, but my 13 year old son took a look at the one inch vent fittings and said, "hey dad, what if we had 3 of these mounted to the transom. They're much smaller than that 2" intake you were trying to find room for." It was a brilliant idea. So, I'm going to plumb 3 1" water intakes below the water line on the transom (2 on one side and one on the other). I'll be using some 90" bronze elbows immediately after the intake and run the hoses from there. I haven't decided how I want to handle a ball/gate valve, but in looking at my boat, there's not one for the engine, so I may just have a PVC ball valve or bronze gate valve (way cheaper than the the marine ball valves that fit the thru hull) right in front of the pump so I can always shut it down.Originally posted by Moki View PostOnly if you come out and help me install!

Just a suggestion. The 21v & 23v boats we have don't have a lot of room like the newer v drives do.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

My conflict was that I had both an Airmar thru hull speed sensor and the depth finder transducer on that side, so adding it in the location the others have done would have disrupted the water flow to those two sensors, which is not something I was willing to sacrifice.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

Well, the problem is the JABSCO Ballast Puppies can handle a thru hull that's 1", but they can't handle it if it's bigger than that (too much water pressure). So you really do need the reverse scoop or your ballast tanks will fill all the time and your impellers on the Ballast Puppies will fail prematurely.
If I go down to 1", I might as well just put in on the transom because I have more room there.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

Thats why you put a valve on the intake(s) to prevent any pressure after the sacs are full. We left ours open the entire weekend and all was fine and I have a 1 1/2" ball valve. Mounting the pumps up high and using the check valves helps all of this.Originally posted by dogbert View PostWell, the problem is the JABSCO Ballast Puppies can handle a thru hull that's 1", but they can't handle it if it's bigger than that (too much water pressure).
