Anyone ever had a problem with what feels like slippage in the drivetrain. Happened twice yesterday during a gradual turn with speedset @ 20 and a rider behind. Also when coming around to pick up the rider it happened 4 more times. Those times I was going straight and had no response from the throttle trying to accelerate over the wake. Was only going maybe 10mph. Boat is going in for 20 hour service on Wed. anyways. Just curious if common problem or if I am doing something wrong.

It happened both while Speed Set was in us and with out? How would you best describe what you felt? My first guess would be low transmission fluid.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I've been having the exact same problem. Feels like the engine is not engaging. Happens when using cruise control and turning ot pick up a fallen rider. I ease pack to disengage the cc, and then when i acclerate it feels like is slipping.Originally posted by sjbaron@shaw.ca View PostAnyone ever had a problem with what feels like slippage in the drivetrain. Are you making a turn under power ......dare I say.......powerturn? The Speed Set will not disengage till the throttle lever is nearly back to the Idle position.
Slipping would be a noticeable change in engine speed and noise, with out an increase in boat speed. Prop-blowout, or cavitation, will be similar, but usually has some vibration along with it.
Lagging, would be that the engine just didn't want to spin up. If this is the case, sounds like the Speed Set is still in control.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Its lagging. Not trying to powerturn. I slow the boat down and then turn and accelerate and it feels as if its having trouble accelerating. If its the speedset, are you saying that it is normal. I'll have to replicate the motions with it off this weekend to see.Originally posted by chpthril View PostAre you making a turn under power ......dare I say.......powerturn? Did you say it only happened when you crossed the wake? Then I would suspect cavitation. That happens when there is air under the boat and the prop sounds like it is slipping because there is no resistance.Originally posted by sjbaron@shaw.ca View PostAnyone ever had a problem with what feels like slippage in the drivetrain. Say it ain't so...are you really doing a power turn?Originally posted by DieselPWR View PostIts lagging. Not trying to powerturn. Try this, bring the throttle all the way back to the neutral position as it comes off plane. Just as it drops down, turn your wheel all the way in one direction and give it little bump. Your boat will start turning as your wake passes you buy without soaking anyone in the bow. Complete your turn in lock forward and pick up your rider.
You will make everyone happy (your rider, your fellow boaters, etc.) and you'll use less gas

No, just trying to understand what it's doing and under what conditions. Just trying to make sure it's not driver induced. The first 07 with Speed Set I drove was at the 07 Mead Cold water. Talltige and I took the RZ2 for a spin and noticed it was surging at about 22MPH. Realized the Speed Set ON/OFF switch was still "ON" and the cruise was trying to engage and didn't like the fact that I didn't put the throttle all the way down.Originally posted by DieselPWR View PostIts lagging. You both have Z's, to hear you say it, at first I think it may be cavitaion, which feels just like a transmission slipping. But then one of you said you were only going 10 mph and straight, well that rules out the cavitaion. I am sure that the speedset can do strange things depending on the paddle wheel movement. I know in my 22 when using speedset, the boat falls on it's face when making left turns at speed. The paddle must spin faster due to the water flow change on left turns and the engine backs down, once you straighten up it's off to the races trying to catch back up to the set speed. The only bad thing is that it's an unecessary adjustment because the boat doesn't really slow down that much, but because the speedset paddle wheel gives an erratic reading the speedset thinks it's got a lot of catching up to do.Originally posted by DieselPWR View PostI've been having the exact same problem. I'm curious to hear what you find out. Keep us posted...........I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

Wow quite the response. I would have to say that Diesel is having exactly the same issue. I thought at first it was cavitating but not all the time. My guess is that it has something to do with the Speedset. I will talk to my dealer about it tomorrow and get back to everyone.
