This might be the only time I am glad that I am over 40. I sure hope that they make PWC owners get the same thing. On the Sac river, the boaters are great, the PWC owners dont seem to foloow the rules.

I think I'm good until 2018! If I read it right, I'm 52 this year. 9 years from now in 2017 I'll be 61 so that means 2018, right? Sheesh, I never expected to live that long as a kid! If I had only known, I would have taken better care of myself!

Well thank you California. I am sure other states will follow in the next few years especially if the California law helps reduce accidents and the like.

we have this in Oregon and it's really no big deal. We pay ten bucks to take the test and the license is good for life.

Same thing in Washington State. I think it's a good idea. Maybe it will help some of the people that no nothing about boating. Keep them from running into me or over one of my wakeboarders/skiers.

If it taught some idiots some rules it couldn't be that bad. I do agree though that if really needs to apply to all motorized water vehicles, not just boats.

Yepper it's come to Washington State just this year. Staggered requirements depending on age. I don't have to take the test for probably 10 years. Son just took the test (18 years old), sent in results, got back a score of "pass". This allowed him to fill out an application, send it in with the test results, to get back a boating card, which allows him to drive boats, jetskiis..... Total cost: $5 for book/test, $10 for application.
