Bad day boating...need some help

First day on the water one my new "used" 2007 20v and had a little issue and I a looking for some help. My buddy was driving and hit some wood or sand. The skegs are not straight and I assuming they should be. Can they be straightened or do you need to buy new ones?

Also, how do you raise the floor were the v drive and skegs bolts are?

Finally, the prop is bent, does anyone know the replacement cost on one of those.

Is there anything else I may be missing? The shaft appears to be straight
Any guesstimates on what this would cost to fix at the shop? My buddy is paying for it and wou like a guess. Would insurance cover this?

A replacement prop is about $400. PM SPBFAN he sells ACME 537 prop which is one on your boat.

1st, sorry to here this, man

2nd, I think you got lucky: Skegs can be straightened as long as it looks as if all it did was tweek them, and not pulled them from the hull. I believe they are lag-bolted, so no need to remove floor, but I would try to straighten them where they are and not remove.

3rd: Its an ACME prop, so I would either send it back to them for repair, or buy a new one from them and get this one fixed and tuck it away as a spare.

4th: It would be best to have the run-out on the shaft check just to make sure all is good.

that sucks to here that thats why i dont take my boat to the river the prop go to capital water sports i got one for $250 from them and for now on ill see you at camp far west.

Yes insurance will cover this. It is considered an underwater hazard, and any decent boat insurance should take care of you.

i would repair your prop for about 70 bucks and as i have heard they are better than new after being reworked and then try to bend skegs back .

^^^^ That's the one part of your post I missed and I can tell you that YES, your insurance should cover the whole thing, less deduct. Have your dealer, or any reputable boat shop, inspect it and write an estimate. Call your AGENT tomorrow and ask them if it would be covered first, dont call the 1-800 # for the insurance company.

If it's covered, call and file a claim. They will tell you what to do from there. They may have an adjuster look at it, but more them likely not, just cut a check for the amount.

If your buddy really wants to man up, have him pay the deduct.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I had something similar happen to me a while back. I bent my prop, shaft, strut and rudder. The prop is definitely fixable. Check to see if you have a local prop shop. You can usually get a prop fixed for less than half the cost of a new one.

And yes, State farm covered the whole thing.

Thanks for all of the input and help. Very much appreciated. I always go to the Sac river as I am 3 minutes from Garcia Bend. The accident happened between Knights Landing and swabies. It is a 2007. Kinda plain jane but nice. I am liking the Tige brand a lot. I like iHere are the pics of the boat before the accident

Man that is very cheap for a ACME prop. If it is an Acme prop I can assure you they did not make a dime on that prop in fact they lost money. You can get Michigan props for that price though and they are not even close to the standards of an ACME. Not that they are a bad prop but they are not CNC Machined they are a molded prop and the tolerances are way different than ACME. No one can compete with the ACME props when it comes to perfection. I know people that have taken there perfectly good props off and put on ACME's and say they had no idea that there boat could run so smooth.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. This is the very reason why the GF doesn't want to take the boat to the river. We also had another friend that decided to cut a bend in the river and did a lot more damage to their boat. Hope that you are able to take care of this yourself without taking it into CWS....
