Marine Stereo System Package

Is there a place where I can buy the whole package for a stereo system for my boat. I am not to good with amps, watts, ect talk so I would rather just buy a package I can install and know will work. Thanks.

What are your expectations, and how much do you want to spend. We can help you put together a great system, but installation may be tough


What is your time frame on putting a system together?

The wiring is still there from the previous system. Just want something that sounds good, not looking to go crazy right now. Maybe 700-800 dollars. I know that will not get much but don't have alot to spend after buying the boat this year.

You better jump at a couple pairs of the wetsounds "b stock" speakers that were posted as a group buy. That should be able to get you decent in boat sound, now do you want tower speakers as well??? That is where the cost goes up substantially!!! My choice for economical tower speakers was a pair of Electravoice Evid 6.2 speakers that I had to somewhat custom make a tower mount for. Luckily I have a friend with a nice mill in his garage...but it could be done easily enough if you can't find anything that fits the bill, send me a pm and I'll give you exactly what you would need to get the brackets made, shouldn't cost much.

I was able to just add a clamp to the top of the Evids for my tower and they fit beautifully and held strong. I sure did not have to do any custom machining.

You also need to ask where you want the money to be spent, tower, subs or interior. I am going to have a pair of Polk DB 650's for sale as soon as I get my Wetsounds 650's. Even the B stock was $85 per pair, which adds up pretty fast. I can sell the Polk's for $35 to a fellow Tige owner.

I still have my old Clarion's which are not a bad speaker at all, and can send you those for the cost of shipping, and I have all 3 pairs of those.

So I guess with that setup you would run the interior speakers off of the head unit, right? That is not a bad setup right there.

IMHO, if you plan to upgrade to a nicer/better/louder set up when you can afford it you'd just be wasting your money now that you could save for a better system. $800 isn't a lot of money in the speaker world. Also, if you bought some of the wetsounds "b" stock you would not have to upgrade those later and in the meantime your current system will sound better.

It depends on how fast you can save up for a better system, or if you want a better one at all. I would rather have something for this year if it means going all year with nothing.

I think the real waste of money is guys who go from mediocre systems, and then upgrade up 1 notch, then later another notch, until they finally get a great system.

Getting a great system takes a lot of cash! I'd rather build it as I could and enjoy baby steps as I can make them.
Either way, in the end you have a killer stereo. Seems less painful to drop $700 at a time 5 times instead of $3500 all at once for some reason

If you don't want to do it yourself, do you have any friends who would help you out? Otherwise, this is an area where a local high school kid would probably do it cheap if you know anyone.

It doesn't take a load of cash to put together a real nice system. I put mine together with a bit of frugal shopping over last winter. And while i don't have Wetsounds (on purpose as i'm not keeping it long past this coming season) it sounds pretty damned good. Good point, a time frame for an upgrade is something to consider. Anything you install could be sold used, if in good condition, and recoup part of what you spent. Here are a couple of options I would look at:

Head Unit = keep
4 KS65.2's = keep
ZX350.2 = keep
KMT6 = keep

Add:
ZX650.4 for the 4 main cabin speaker.
1 more pair of KS65.2's ( power the bows off the H/U)
Kicker Comp VR10 (powered by the zx350.2)
Another KMT6
ZX350.4 to drive both KTM6's

OR:

Head Unit = keep
4 KS65.2's = keep
ZX350.2 = keep

Add:
ZX650.4 for the 4 main cabin speaker.
1 more pair of KS65.2's ( power the bows off the H/U)
Kicker Comp VR10 (powered by the zx350.2)
1 pair Wet Sound Pro 60's
ZX350.4 for the Pro 60's
