Canyon Lake, AZ Drained

Wow, I thought my local lake was low..

We got a lot of rain later that day and supposedly it's starting to fill... I don't know what they needed to fix on the dam but apparently they're going to let it fill naturally and so far so good... Thank god there are 3 other lakes surrounding this one...

Did you see the jeep near the bridge? It was about 15 - 20 ft below the water scar line.

No?? They must have taken it out of there already?

Nope different lake... I was on Saguaro... This is Canyon... They are connected via a damn... They're both part of the Salt River...

I want to know more about this Jeep. Was this something that was lost into the lake from the road, and had been there for who knows how long? Or a Jeep that was driven on the dry lake and broke down, and left there?

Looked to be undewater for a long time. I will dig thru my photos and see if i got any with the Jeep in it.

How long to fill it back up.

Do they have a number on how long it will take to fill it back up? I may have missed it but why was it drained down? Jimmy Hoffa?

In MI they will sometimes to that to make some habitat for the fish.

On Clear water man made Lakes like that one there is not a lot of natural cover or hiding places for fish so in essence the Dept of Conservation dumps the pallets and christmas trees that were unsold to creat habitat for fish instead of habitat for hummanity. Just think of the pallets and trees as fish condos

Drained it to make improvements to the dam. It is a small lake, something like 1,200 acres, so it could be filled in a couple days if they wanted to.

So do they just store the water in a big warehouse somewhere?

That's kinda crazy to think they have that much control over such a large body of water. Neat pics.
