Cooler insulation

A simple 3 beer job (for those over 21) with tunes. Some follow-up / touch up work the next day.

I like the beer scale... That's very easy to understand...

My cooler will hold a 20# bag of ice for a whole weekend. Maybe I got lucky and got a well insulated cooler Mine is held in with 1,789,345 screws but came out pretty easily once those were all out.

I approached it differently with my '03 22V.

I found that it was a lot more convenient to load a soft sided cooler with ice, drinks, food, etc at the cabin or house and throw it in the boat behind the captain's chair. It stays cold all day the midwest heat, no has to stand and get out of the way and the cooler has a Velcro mini flip lid for those emergency crew drink replenishments.

The cooler? Gone. About 8 screws held it in place. A little sanding of the edges, white paint and a conformed hunk of matching I/O carpet glued to the floor finished the conversion. I now store all of the ski / board / barefoot ropes, extra bindings, boot screws and other misc ski equipment it a very handy place to which I have quick access.

And then I exercise that emergency flip lid.

That is an awesome idea. I have not used my cooler once. It is an irregular shape and would not hold as much as I would like. I simply find it easier to bring my own cooler. So currently it is full of owner's manuals, maps, a fire extinguisher, tube patch kits, etc. So it might look a little bit nicer if I did what you did and take out the cooler and carpet the area. Another thing to put on the 'some day I ought to do this' list.

I pulled out my rear seat today, I've got an old one so I can do that . 3 cans of great stuff and a 1-1/2" piece of foam cut to fit and now hopefully I can keep my Zimas cold

That requires at least 2 corners of your man card being cut off

On a serious note, I did get into my dealer's RZ4 on Fri afternoon, and guess what.................no insulation around the cooler box and the bad news is, the cooler box is adhered to the backside of the of the seat base, not dropped in like in earlier models.

Sound like they are missing a step in the assembly process, and not realized yet.

I would get with my dealer and also drop a line to Andrew just to see what he knows

A quick thought on insulating with spray in foam. It is sticky and will glue what ever it touches together. To prevent this place plastic bags in where you want the foam and then fill the bags. The foam will still expand and fill all voids, but it you have to remove it you can with out ruining anything.

uh, how much would you like to hold? I've put 2-24 packs of beer, etc. and two 5lb bags of ice in mine. Then again, we can go through that in about an hour, and take a soft-sided Tigé cooler (kick ***, BTW)... so I guess I answered my own question.

Maybe it is bigger than I thought. Like I said, I have never even tried to put anything in there, other than the fire extinguisher. I think I do not like the idea of having to make someone get up every time I want a beverage. I don't mind having a big cooler sitting in the center of the boat. If you want to walk around, go to the beach.

It'll hold quite a bit, but depending on who you bring along it can last all day or 30 minutes

Colman answer

I have a 21v, I have put a double insulated Colman cooler in the storage compartment next to the engine on the passenger side. I also have a 30 gallon garbage container there with plenty of bags. I hate garbage in the boat so we drop it off at the gas doc. After all, for the cost of gas on the water, we now are giving back.
The Tige' installed cooler under the seat works great for sandwich makings and snacks, kept cold with a couple of reusable icepacks.
