Domsz, what kind of pumps are you running? Also, how scary is it to drill a hull through your hull? I'm worried about doing that

J/k. Just make sure you drill the correct size hole (just cuz the fitting says x", dont take it for granted, double check before you drill). Measure carefully. You dont want to drill into the stringers or somewhere that you cant access the top of the fitting, nor do you want it to end up under a trailer bunk either. When you think you found the right spot, drill a very small pilot hole to see exactly where things will end up. A 1/16 hole is easier to fill then a 2"

Other then that, use the normal precautions when drilling gel-coat. Tape off area to help prevent chipping, drill slow, drill in reverse til through the gel-coat, bevel edge to prevent future spider cracks, and a good bead of 5200 sealer (enough to ooze out when fitting is installed, but more is not better)

first hole is the hardest. and I cant remember what pump I'm using. I'll have to look.it's not all these high dollar one's.

I guess I want to make sure it will be worth it to add ballast myself.

not to sound like a smart @$$, but, the lake. You install a fresh water pickup of sorts and the pumps draw from that. Check out the link of Xp's and Talltigeguy's installs.

900#'s in a Tige is like 1500 in the others. Plus, if you plan on Surfing, you will need the weight in addition to the factory system. We rode behind our dealers RZ this Summer on a clinic day with Cathy Williams and I could tell a big difference between my Ve w/o ballast and the RZ with.

I understand that the water comes from the lake, my question is how do you get it from the lake. All the bilge pumps I have looked at draw from the bottom. I'm not sure how one would hook tubing up to that. Maybe this pump can fit tubing, but the ones I've looked at have not been able to.

There are special pumps made for drawing in water like the tsunami pumps.
