I have the Canon Digital Rebel and love it. I sprung for the more expensive lens and am glad that I did. I bought mine from B&H. I tried several of those "cheap" places. Like others have said, if you don't buy their overpriced accessories, then they suddenly become back ordered and they cancel your order.

They are your typical bait and switch scam
Their approval rating is less than 1 person out of 10 and the positive feedback is probably from their employees

Most of those camera places are like that. All you have to do is look at the prices of the memory cards. If they are nuts, stay away.

Personally, here is my rule of thumb. If newegg has it, always buy from them. Unless you are sure of a deal and the reputation of another store, always go with newegg. I use them for all electronic stuff, business and personal, the canon xt is 519 there.

I called them and the Xti that is just the body only for $249 is 'unavailable'. At least the guy spoke pretty good English. I was expecting to have to speak very slowly.

I called as well, and spoke to JJ, who sounded like he was in a bathroom. He quoted me a price and then I asked if the package was in stock. JJ put me on hold, and 25 min later never came back...

Since I've posted this last night, I've been on 50 different sites reading all sorts of reviews on all the products, and I'm leaning back towards the SONY. Upon me mentioning I was looking for a camera, 3 of the guys I work with say they have the A100, and they really like it. I know the Nikon and Canons are good and I appreciate all of your responses. I just can't find any negative reviews on the A100. I don't think I'd go wrong with any of your recommendations either, but I can save a few hundred dollars with the relationship my employer has with Sony.

If this article is correct, it sounds like the Sony is the best buy and the Pentax camera is the best overall. Given this information, I would definitely go for the Sony but if price isn't an issue, do the the Pentax. I am probably going to stick with my Canon Digital Rebel XT for now, but it is tempting to look at the Pentax! My only problem is that I have a very nice Canon Lens.

friend of mine got back from South Africa with his A100 camera. Looks good to me.

WTH happened to my image? It shrunk about 75%

I will chime in with another rec. for the Canon XTI. We have had one for a couple months now and love it. If you have the cash I would also go with the Canon 70-300 Image Stabilized lens. It is great for Wakeboarding shots from the boat as well as other sports events.

Or you could just get a monopod. That's what most sports photogs use and you'd be surprised how stable your image is. In most instances, image jitter wasn't an issue because when we're boating and we're doing the sports and rapid-fire picture mode, the shutter speed is around 2000. I did use the monopod on extreme zoom-in pictures, like soccer and football games. The pictures always turned out great.

can you increase the aperture (sp?) value on the digi SLR's like my
35mm? this would allow more light in with out increasing the shutter speed.

Not sure that an IS lens will really help. The cause of the blurry pic is lack of light, more than movement, in this case. The only fixes are: light........not going to have it 70ft away. Increase the arperture.........best fix, along with slowing down the shutter speed. But slowing down the shutter speed only works when the camera is held still, as on a tri/mono pod, but will still be moving in rhythm with the boat. It also gets hard for the camera to focus at dusk, because objects begin to wash together. Have you tried turning off the AF and manually focusing the lens and leaving it at a set zoom?
