No real noticeable speed difference (I rarely go WOT). It probably robbed me of 1-2 Mph top end. The steering wasn't affected, except at low speeds. Overall, it's definitely worth it. The noise reduction and the fumes from the station-wagon effect (back into the boat) are awesome. I'll never own another boat without it.Originally posted by maximus2003 View PostDogbert,
How does the FAE effect the overall performance of your boat? Does it create any drag? Does the boat track or steer differently? Those rods that go straight up from the FAE to the swim grid, are they attached to the swim grid for support? If so, is it a pain to take the swim grid off? Reason I ask is I have to take mine off in order to fit my boat in the garage and wonder if that would be a magor undertaking with the FAE attached.
As for the swim platform, you can get quick connects for that. NICKYPOO posted the ones he installed on one of the threads.
Like I always say, it's like stealth for your boat and it's good for you, too

Moki,
I think your pips are to long. The FAE seem to extend way past the TAPS plate.
Let's say if the down pipe is vertical, that's 0*. Mine has a slight angle away from the transom, about 5*. I have about 1/8 clearance at the closest point to the TAPS. Yours is in negative angle so to speak.

Yeah, Larry told me the same thing when he was on my boat. He said they shortened the downpipe in the newer FAEs.Originally posted by chpthril View PostMoki,

So, is my down angle pipe too long or is it the pipes that extend past the Taps plate. I think that you are talking about the horizontal pipes. I think that the newer TAPS plate are larger. I can either measure and cut it with a hack saw or send it back to Larry Mann and his crew to do it.Last edited by Moki; 11-08-2007, 12:55 AM.

I think your horizontal tubes are too long. Mine were just long enough to get me past the TAPS plate. You clear your plate by a long shot.
I think if the downpipe were much shorter, it wouldn't be in the water at full speeds.Be excellent to one another.
