My guess would be weight. When ours took on a lot of water back in June, we couldn't go much faster than that either. The water probably filled the engine bay and lockers so that's probably a few thousand pounds right there!

Lesson learned here is.....if your boat starts taking on water, get to the closest shore immediately! Don't mess around with trying to get somewhere else - just get to a shore, beach it (if possible) and figure it out from there!

after reading your quote and thinking about it, I would bet your right. When I had a hole in my ballast bag and I pumped the entire floor full of water it took FOREVER to get on plane. I bet he had even more water and it probably wouldn't go faster the that.

It is still not too late to pursue criminal charges if you desire. It would even help if you have the AZ or hull registration info.

If in fact additional damage was caused to the stranded Tige' by this loser thief when he attempted to lasso, and it can be shown he was taking possession of an 'abandoned' half sunk vessel.

From your description of the event, it appears he was not trying to locate the owner rather to assume control of the property/boat.

At this point I don't even want to worry about that Douchebag. I wasn't there and the sheriffs who stopped him didn't seem too concerned about charging him with anything... Also the boat is most likely a total loss so insurance will cover it either way... It's not worth the headache to me... I just want to get back on the water...

Good news indeed, such as it were. My car was totaled which is what I wanted as it was a major collision. If you boat was repaired it would always be associated with major damage. You will only get what the NADA or other guys think the boat is worth. Do not take the first offer. Negotiate the settlement higher. You will probably not get what you want, but you may get close.

So sorry for this bum luck. It really makes me reflect on some of the woes I have had to deal with, and they are nothing compared to what you are going through. I can vividly remember the raw wrenching feeling I've had in my gut and chest, just the shear pressure of worry, frustration and anger when things go wrong; and my woes were minor compared to this. This has got to be killing you. Rest assured time heals all wounds, and if your riding in a new 22Ve it will heal even quicker. Best of luck and hope you have a quick boating recovery.

Dude, I was just looking at the pics you posted of your boat a couple of days ago. They wee the ones from when you just got it. Sorry to hear you had such a short time with it, but relieved to hear that no one was hurt. Toys can easily be replaced. Gives me the shivers because I just bought a 20V, and I'm shocked to see how easily it sunk. A lot of the lakes we have up here are resevoirs that have been flooded, with lots of stumps in them. Shows just how careful you have to be. Glad to hear everything is working out with your claim. Best of luck witht the new boat. I hope that the guy that tried to jack it gets a kick in the nuts sometime soon!

I think, on the strength of this thread, next years insurance will be with a company that has full replacement value on a total loss.
And like Maximus says your stuff can always be replaced.

OK, we can change this around. Maybe the guy was trying to help. We know that is not the case but it sure is a more positive way to look at it. If we find all the negative of what that other guy did we are no better than he. Lets just say he was trying to help get it to shore. . Then leave it up to him to let it weight on his continence. I hope that one day he never hits a big unmarked rock and sinks his 40 footer. Maybe if he does we can help him right.
