Busted trim tab

anyone ever bust a trim tab assembly(AKA- the 'wake plate')? 4 of the 10 rivets on the plate were ripped out somehow.
I rivetted 1 back in , but the other 3 are adout 1/8 -1/4" off. I have tried pushing the plate into the transom, but I am baffled.
I have a 2000 2100V that is 1 year old to me. It is now entering the terrible twos. Honestly, I have had more go wrong this summer than right. Isn't that supposed to happen to people that own jet boats?

Anyways, get some gelcoat repair and plug up those holes. Then, re-drill them and reattach.

Alternatively, you can try filling the holes with epoxy and re-drill.

Hey, I've got a '99 with over 600 hours on it. I can't see how you'd rip out the rivets without hitting something.

Post some pics wow, did the hinge pull loose from the transom, or did the plate pull loose from the hinge?

I would check the movement of the hinge. Not sure if the ram is strong enough to pull something loose if the hinge froze but dont know how you could have hit it on something without hitting the rest of the running gear

Gotta have pics to help. I have the same boat with over 500 hours, and have never had a problem like that.

Let me clarify,
the hinge is well attached to transom
The plate pulled away from hinge.
i put the taps on 7,braced a car jack against a wall and the wake plate, pushed it back in-line and re-riveted. luckily, no fiberglass damage. i think engineers may have some clue by rivetting instead of welding to the hinge.

i have no clue how it got busted. possible 1 actuator got stuck while the other kept pulling or I hit a dead body in the Cumberland River(AKA- the SCUMBERLAND).

If you hit something, I'd think there would be collateral damage.

I wonder how much force would be on the plate if you had the plate down and had it in full throttle reverse, or backed in the trailer very fast. I suppose that could cause a lot of force, sort of like a reverse Wedge.

The kind of force you're talking about, I think you'd sink the boat.
