No lake jelly fish!

As I was about to jump in to set a stern anchor I noticed these not to little guys floating by. One was almost 6 inches across.

Oh yeah! While not fatal, it's definitely not a recommended experience.

A couple shots of our labor day anchorage. Nice "little" 108' Broward in the background, my lovely wife in the foreground. The dude in the water behind her jumped off the top deck to have us drag him behind the boat on the wakeskate, I think he might have had a couple beers. My niece and I with her prized catch. A little sunset through the Tige...Mexico is the next thing out there!!!

Thats not true. At many lakes here in NorCal, we have fresh water jelly fish. You only see them when the water is very low, like it is now, they are very small, and you can touch them, they either don't sting, or don't hurt, cuz so small. We saw some the other evening and ran our hands through them.

Nope, I've never been on LBJ. I've got my weekend place on Lake Buchanan and we often go out on Lake Austin during the week.

It's in my profile...but hey, it's early. We have had some issues with sore ears, so I'm thinking there's some sort of bacterial problem in the lakes in general.

What part of Largo are you from. I lived down off of 7th ave. and up in Seminole just behind the lake. I got transferred to NC about 14years ago. I used to visit the family yearly but now I only come down every couple of years. I miss it when I see sunset pics like that. We were big into windsurfing and waterskiing.

I actually saw a show the other night that said almost all jelly fish sting, but not very many have toxin that can effect a human. They actually talked a little about freshwater jellys but said not many of them can sting at all. The ones around the boat only made my skin itch for about 10 minutes cause I did have a couple brush against me, but nothing major. Some of the people anchored there were freaking out, but the jellys seemed to be a tidal thing cause they dissappeared shortly after those photos were taken.

TRD, I'm off of Clearwater-Largo and Westbay. If you're ever back in town, drop me a line first and I'll be glad to take you out. We usually have a pretty good group that goes out on Thursday nights and we usually have a pretty good flotilla every saturday...YEAR ROUND!!! Had to throw that in for those of you about to put your boats away

We are coming down in Nov. but we are going to Disney. Our son is 7 and this is our 10 wedding anniversary so I don't think we are planning more then 1 day in St. Pete. If we do and I can get away for a couple of hours I will let you know. Do you guys ride in the casway there in Bellair or are you up further than that? I use to windsurf there all the time. Left my truck out there one time and forgot about high tide and when we came back in a couple of hours later my wheels were under water and it was just about to come in the cab. Came back just in time.
