No doubt. It's not like the ettiquette is well documented. I happened to pick up the no power turn tip from a pro.

My kids are learning this now. My youngest loaded the boat on the trailer for the first time! He had one aborted approach, but that's ok. Better to have it lined up and right than get crosswise on the trailer.

Better to abort than to have to repair a prop. Gas is much cheaper than repairing a prop.

lakes are so low here right now that my prop guy (and no I haven't used him in a while ) is 3-4 weeks behind. I won't even power my boat on right now.

I just had mine repaired and the guy took 4 business days. The lakes here in CA are extemely low for this time of year and we have to look for a new lake since our home lake only has three docks open and two will be closing within the next month . Great service and got the prop back to Acme standards. However, still need to take the boat out and check for any vibrations but the spec sheet that I got says that blades are at or better than normal spec's.

That's what I told him. It was relatively calm with no boats around. The only thing he had to deal with was a current, but that's pretty predictable. I was proud of him because he lined it up perfectly. Putting the boat on the trailer is tricky under the best of conditions.

Ok, as a new boat owner I'm not sure the dilemma with a power turn. I do know it shouldn't be done unless passengers are prepared and forewarned.

Actually, that's one of the reasons. The other reason is that it helps prevent taking water over the bow from your own wake. Just slow down to idle speed, turn your wheel and let your wake pass you buy. It's much more enjoyable for your passengers, too.

The only time I powerturn is if my rider goes down and there are other boats going straight for them, then I will haul a$$ to get between the boat and my rider. Everyone on board is always sitting and know if we need to punch it. Usually happens once every other trip.

I agree on the power turns, they churn up the water big time, especially where we usually board on canals with sea walls on both sides. The only time I power turn is like carter just said to get back to my down rider with other boat traffic. Interesting thing happened the other day, I was a ways behind a second boat that was kneeboarding along the same canal we were wakeboarding and when his rider went down I changed course to give the rider plenty of clearance and give the guy room to get back to the rider. Well instead of protecting his rider the idiot driver left him out in the water to give us more clearance...what an idiot!!! In that instance, I would have power turned in a heartbeat to get along my rider.
