ragboy, thanks for the idea. We are thinking about getting up to Oroville in mid August for a camping trip on one of the house boats??? Might be one of those floating campsites but that is what we are planning to do. Over the next few days we will see but will let you know. Thanks,

I'm right there with you. I've got one wakeboarding and both wakesurfing. Seems like all I do is drive my boat. We had Larry Mann from TrickBoardz ride with us last weekend and we all had a blast. Even I got to ride. The kids really look up to Larry because he's an innovator in the sport.

I sure hope the Ski Dock can get a pro or two in town for the Tige Reunion. They had Erik Ruck, Nick Weineker and Chris Bischoff in town for years ago. We rode with them twice. It was soooo much fun and we learned a lot. What a great group of guys! My youngest had never cleared the wake all the way (came close). But a couple of pointers from the pros and he went huge. Landed all the way out in the flats on a full length rope. He was so pumped after seeing a Raley he tried to do one. He got about 12 feet in the air and did a full face plant. Knocked his helmet off and everything. Later they got their board signed and then I had to get him a new one because, of course, you can't ride a signed board, right?

I have 5 kids pumped about boarding, and a 2 yr old that loves the water, and I hope I will have up by the end of the season. 4 of them surf and board. All I do is drive, and I love it. It takes a good 5 hours to get them all rides boarding and surfing, plus a little swim time. Its nuts. My wife tries not to look at the gas bills. Good thing the lake is right down the road.

The best feature of the camera, IMHO, is the rapid shutter feature. You don't have to be good to get the perfect shot. There's no wasting film either

I have that exact same camera, but I can tell you that my pictures are no where near as good as the ones you got. Guess it's time to upgrade the lens to the higher zooming one. Thanks for the info, and costing me a couple hundred more bucks in the process.

I highly recommend the 75-300mm image stabilizing lens for action shots. I also have the Canon XTi ... just took some great 7 x 7 football photos at a tournament last weekend. Hopefully going to use it at the lake this weekend. Try the auto sport setting and click away

The stabilizing lens is 3 times as expensive and has a giro to stabilize the lens in your hands. I'd get a monopod instead for about $30.

I am in the middle of an argument with a friend of mine right now, he doesn't go out because of the price of gas. I tell him I can't remember what gas costs were even last year, but I do remember all the fun times we had. The pics are the best way to keep those memories fresh. I just have them as a slide show screen saver and at work people are always asking where and when was that. You can't beat time with the kids in a boat. I also have to give my on the camera. The cannon is an awsome camera and I almost bought one and ended up finding the Nikon D50 with a 15-80 lens and a 85-300 at costco for $800. It was my wifes mothers day present last summer . I think it is very close in comparison to the cannon and the price was right. Not saying it's the best, just a great camera to catch memories. I think every boater needs a good slr with no shutter lag, it should be a standard accessory when you buy a boat. Back to the thread, awesome pics Ragboy and congrats on the family time.

tell your buddy take out other buddys to pay for gas. thats how we do it

The shots I have posted are all handheld. I would rather she just got good that way. Just jump in a boat and get good pics. Sounds expensive, I wasn't aware of that lens. Sounds cool though.
