Lakes on the "TO VISIT" list...

Please list the places you would like to visit to do either type of water sport in your TIGE.....( oh and by the way...WHEN?)

Also if youve recently visited a lake near RIVERSIDE CALIFORNIA please let me know I would like to know where else I could go besides Lake Elsinore not too far. Maybe 4 hrs at the most... FAMILY FRIENDLY PLACES PEOPLE....and a picture would be nice. Hehehe I know its like three diff topics on one but hey what the heck...

One of these days I'm gonna make the longgggggg haul to Havasu! Besides the lakes here in OK, that's really the only lake I have any interest in. Just b/c of the festivities!

I think anyone who has been to Lake Powell will agree it is a must visit. Everybody I know that has been has always gone back. I don't have pics on this computer so they will have to come later. If you haven't been Rainbow Bridge is a definate must.

Lake Havasu is awesome....just don't take a wife or kids

Havasu is my FAMILIES favorite and being I got a 10 and 13 year old would recommend everyone to go.You can find or not find almost anything there.We've been there on alot of holidays and usually go 3-4 times a year.

From what I hear Shasta is a must.
We will be there for a week at the end of June.
We are taking our camper and staying at a private campsite.
Our neighbor went last year at the same time and said the air and water temp were in the mid 80's.
We never see that here in the Pacific Northwest so I am totally stoked.

Shasta is a must! But either your nieghbor lied to you or had a memory lapse! I was at Shasta last year for the fourth week (as i will be this year) and they had highs the last week of June to the tune of 110-114! It settled down to a *mild* 104-105 the fourth week. That time of year at Shasta is generally close to 100 regardless of what the weather gurus say and yes the water is in the 80's and absolutely fantastic!

I moved to northern california from southern california because of the lakes up here. And Shasta was one of the best. But I live only an hour south of Shasta and I never go. Because shasta is so big and well known, the other lakes around here go less noticed. I live down the road from Lake Oroville. The 2nd largest man made lake in Cal, and its beautiful. And undercrowded compared to most lakes. Whiskeytown is smaller, but great. And west in the mountains from Shasta/Redding, is Lake Trinity. It is gorgeous. I remember kicking it on my boat at trinity, watching a bald eagle fish just a few yards from my boat, and watch fly to its nest to feed young. Amazing.
Here on oroville, I know we have at least 3-4 bald eagles nesting. I have seen 3. And you can go up the middle fork and boat to within a quarter mile of feather falls. Beautiful.
When I was in SoCal, I prefered Mead/Havasu/Mojave for most visits and once a year came up here to Shasta or Trinity. I don't think I will ever go back to the colorado river lakes. At best, I hope to go to shasta or trinity once in a while. But Lake Oroville is beautiful, and 9 miles from driveway to ramp.
By the way, I have been going out 2x week since I got my 24Vé a in mid april. Air is in 80s and lake is about 73 right now. Too warm for a spring suit, but still a bit to get used to. In the summer it does get up to high 70s.

Shasta is definitely a must. I have been to Shasta twice and Powell twice (75' houseboats on both lakes) and honestly, I prefer Shasta. You do have to go to Powell for the scenery but I was able to find better water, more often, at Shasta. Keep in mind that I was coming from C
A and going out of Dangling Rope Marina so we didn't venture too far North.. I heard it's better up there.

Oh and when we were loading up the houseboat in late July on Shasta about 5-6 years back.. it was 117 on the dock!!

Oroville is awesome too. If you're ever in the area I would definitely recommend it! Big and beautiful!

There are some awesome lakes in the mountains...Eastern like in Tennessee or WV, or Western like CO, or MT that I would love to boat on.

I haven't been for a few years. It used to have a private slalom course you could run. It only allowed skiing on certain days. Anyway, check out the link.

Yikes! I went for Memorial Day 2 years ago and I couldn't tell the difference between the lake and a strip club! Pasties everywhere, body painted women, thongs on almost every woman, pretty crazy! We had to put our boat in at 5am just to get on the lake! Awesome!
