The best surf wake I have ever been on was produced by an old - I want to say '05 24V. It was the hull without the spray pockets. Anyway...it was at a contest in New Mexico and the boat belonged to Charley Pigeon or Patterson? Shoot getting old ain't for sissies. Anyway...I believe it was loaded with 17 people and a cooler of beer. In my experience, beer in large quantities always helps wake shape. No ballast tanks, just swarms of people. We shifted people from one side to the other to form the port or starboard wake. It was massive and clean. Better than any Enzo surf wake. I wish that Tige still made that boat.

Dom, those are some good sized surf and wakeboarding wakes.

Three feet and inches from the trough to the top of the lip, WHEN we fill the sac - which is I'm guessing 1800 pounds and then another 750 on the bench.

So that is 2550? Plus 300-400 of people in ballast.

I don't want to stir the da.bell dog pot, but I think da.bell recognizes that in California the practice in the picture is illegal. I don't know what the reg's are in TX. We go to this contest in MN every year - the land of a 'bazillion' lakes and boats. Don't quote me on this, but in MN I know you don't need a skier down flag and I don't think you even need an observer. When I tell that to folks in CA most are floored

Matt, I have one huge custom sac from the folks at Fat Sac. Every square inch of space from the rear locker up to the observer's seat is ballast. I believe that "theoretically" that sac holds 30 cubic feet of water which tranlsates into something close to 1,800 pounds.

I have tried putting ballast in the bow, in the opposing locker and in the walk thru - nothing improved the size and shape over ballast in the rear corner and then up along the underside of the bench seat on the port side.

We run anywhere between 10.5 and 12.5, depending upon what we are doing that day. When we are actually training for an event, especially those pulled by an Enzo we bump the speed up, if it's just for fun - where I get to take a nap and the wife and son fish (THOSE are the best days ) we are pulling at 10.5.

My intent was not to stir the pot but to recognize that something is not right IMO. If Dog does this, he is okay with it, and it is legal, that is HIS option. Personally, I wouldn't do that for the sake of safety. I feel we all should be able to take constructive critizism and run with it as we seem fit.
