Glovebox

Has anyone installed a gas spring on there glovebox hatch to make it stay up? I think that it will be my next mod.

If you do, take pictures and post. It probably be an easy install. Just have to find the parts and make sure the screws aren't too big. Let us know how it works.....

yeah you should absolutely do that. i found myself holding it up with a bottle of sun block the other day and was thinking...this is dumb there's gotta be a better way.

Both, I have a cupholder on each side of the glovebox and a lift support for the lid

did you install this or did I get robbed??? I am thinking I got robbed. I go out and buy the top of the line 06 Tige 24Ve and I get robbed. Go figure. Well, I might have to do some talking with the dealership.....

If there is not a spring installed to help hold up the lid there is a screw on each hinge that you can adjust to increase the friction to hold the lid up. This is how it is on my '04

From what I am understanding from junior and he has the same year and make as I do, we do not have anything to hold the glovebox door open. We either have to put something against the door to prop it open or it is closed. Also, this is where my radio is installed and would be nice to have it stay open when we are searching for stations or putting a CD into the deck....

your right, I don't have anything either and would love to have something. My friend has one, it's just a simple spring, I bet we could do something like that. I have to go to lowes tonight, I'll look.

yeah, I'll look into it. I think just a simple spring, and then a bracket to make it mount to the lid, as you could just attach the screw straight to the fiber glass.

Dom, I don't think that is what junior wanted to do. I think he is looking into something like the air/gas springs. I hope you are not talking about a regular spring. I don't think so but just want to make sure.....

Well here is what my 06 22Ve post console looks like. The only diferance I can think of is that we have the SS package but I would think that all the 06's would look the same and atleast have something to hold the door open...a plain black support, spring, rod with a finger nut, something

I would say that you should try to find the lowest rated pressure lift support that you can find. This one is a bit to strong, and the door is a little warped on the left side on my list to replace support and door.

I can do close ups and measurments if anybody needs.
