One of the many hair-brained ideas I have gotten was just replacing the thing I like least about my boat and not spending oodles on a new one. My metcraft tower is pretty solid, but whoever designed the board racks needs to be castrated. They are 8 feet off the floor, and at 6'9" tall, even I find it difficult to get boards in and out. If you stand on the side of the boat, and if you are 5"9" or better, you can barely do it. I have had a friend fall in the lake once trying to put a board in.
I have always admired this tower and thought it was made by Samson sports. At www.samsonsports.com the towers look like they are from 2001. Aren't they the makers of the tower I am talking about? The racks are located on the side, and the tower drops easily as well.

JK Talltigeguy, looks like a killer addition.
I like the Sampson tower as well but for me I like the swooping design of the Xplosion and am not a huge fan of the billets on the slide blocking my views of beautiful Lake Powell canyons. The Xplosion racks swivel and pull put one pin and they easily come off for tight garage spaces. You can mount the racks anywhere you want on the tower. For me getting a new tower felt like getting a new boat. Go for a new tower. Let me know if you need further help spending your money!
