Rear Pilon Loose. Nut size? 06' 24Ve

Anybody know the nut size of the rear pilon on the 06' 24Ve? Mine is loose and of course the ginormous bolt they use is forcing me to buy a long socket. Bastids.

Can't resist the chance to chime in on my opinion of the 'pansy pylon'. I don't like it and Tige is the ONLY inboard manufacturer with such a thing.

I guess you don't have gel coat cracks around it yet? I don't either, but I have tired of the harness on the back tow hooks, so I am just putting tubes on the pylon, it is just a matter of time before it cracks.

That pylon is made for little girls.

I agree with the sentiment for the pylon the thing is a waste and a real danger anytime people have been using sunscreen and laying on the back sun deck. Many people have come close to getting hurt on it in my 22ve. I don’t do any skiing so I am looking at removing it and finding someone to develop a flat plate to bolt on instead.

I understand your complaint is it needs to be stronger. My thoughts are it needs to be stronger and adjustable (Pop-up) like almost all the other WB Boats around.

Ok, question for you guys. I have a 4 person big mamma tube that I like to throw out on choppy days... can the tower handle the stress of the tube with 4 guys riding it? I was under the assumption that the pilon was made for tubing/skiing because it was more secure. Sounds quite the opposite.

Wow man, do a search on this site about tubes and you will find that no one would ever recommend towing that many from the tower.

Which is why I towed from the pylon. But people are saying the pilon is weak too... so what, no tubes on a Tige? That would be pathetic.

My friends POS yamaha jet boat can tow the same tube with the rear hooks.

In my opinion no. A tube can create thousands of #'s of pull if the tube were to submarine, even at slow speeds. That downward force is multiplied due to the hight of the tower.

I have towed 2 tudes w/4 people from my pylon and have no cracks or loosening of the pylon. I would much rather pull the pylon out than pull the tower down. 1 hole is cheaper to fix than 4 just my thoughts.

Yeah it is a raw deal...you shouldn’t tow tubes from the tower or the ski pylon.

This "No Towing" from the pylon is a Tige exclusive at least compared to the other top 4 Wake Boats.

If you look at what the pylon is attached to you will see it is a piece of fiberglass. I will grab a couple of shots of other boats. They connect the pylon to major metal structures so can pull tubes.

Tige's are relegated to connecting tubes to the lifting rings. If you got the RZ you are out of luck since the lifting rings are below the swim deck.

I have a friend with an X-Star and another with a Air Natique. Why is it that one boat manufacturer can't combine all the great features of each individual boat and make one super boat? The X-Star is close but there are a few features that I HATE compared to my Tige. His boat is an 04' so I figured those issues had to be fixed by 07' but they're still there.

My 05 does not have any 3 to 4 inch thick anything near the pylon. What is F/G? Maybe yours is more reinforced. The RZ2's I have seen look the same as mine.

The lifting rings on mine are higher than on the Ve, but still are too low to keep the rope out of the water. The pylon simply works better.

This is from the Vegas boat show. It is a Supra. This boat is cheaper, looks nice and had more options including 1800 pounds of ballast. The storage space was bigger as well. I haven't heard Supra owners complaining. I guess that is why they are up and coming. The supra has a retractable pylon that is bolted down into the framework.

I'll pull my pylon out in the AM (AM = morning for those with out a program ) and see how thick the fiber glass is.

1800#'s of factory ballast.....how much does that boat weigh dry?
