I remember the first time they quoted that to me. I asked, isn't the impeller itself around $40? --yes. So, the rest is labor? -- yes. So what it your hourly shop rate? -- $90. So, you are saying it takes you 3 -1/2 hours when I can do it in 45 minutes? That's when they offered to do just cover it. I am sure that it is one of their most profitable services next to winterization.Originally posted by jleger98 View PostIt'd be fun to play dumb and take it to the dealer and see what they say. Then explain to them that you can do for 60 bux what they need 400 to do.

I have a hose bib that is a 1" diameter. I dug up my main line and taped right in to it. The house main line is usually 2" or 3" in Diameter. You will get plenty of pressure if you do this. I have never had a problem. Plus it is nice to have the pressure to wash down the walk ways and other things around the house. If you use two hoses off your house you still are only feeding through at the most a 3/4" line because they reduce the line size going into your homes. Then they usually reduce from that to 1/2" for the hose faucets attached to the house. That just is not enough volume of flow by the time they reduce and reduce again. Just my thoughts. My wife does not like me doing this on the RV slab because I messed up before I put the concrete down. I did not put the drains in the right locations so it tends to puddle the water and flood the side of the house. I have to get a Squeegee and push the water to the drains. This only takes about 4 minutes of the boat running and it is flooded.Originally posted by jleger98 View PostI still maintain that for engines like the ones we use, a single garden hose is not enough water if you are doing anything but idling.Last edited by anhaney; 03-30-2007, 05:15 PM.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
Is that close to the going rate? I don't know...."I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"
