I turn up the volume for surfing to about 20 on the head unit. For wakeboarding usually up to 27-28. The difference is huge. So I am not sure exactly what you mean about being 'blasted out from behind the boat', they can just be turned down. I have been surfing when the wife turned the music too loud, and it hurts to surf that way.

The Addictions will require more power and a more expensive amp. I run a PPI PCX4125 and have about 375 Watts going to each speaker. I found the amp cheap on ebay for $350.

Thanks again for taking us on your boat. What I am trying to say is that the Addictions sound good directly behind the boat because according to Duane they disperse the music more and a warmer sounding speaker so they are not as harsh on your ears when you are close behind the boat. The pro485s and the NVS Entity have a more directional horn, so if you are directly behind the boat (meaning close and in the line of fire), it can sound harsh. Yet, the Addictions with the 10 inch speaker, you are still able to project it out to the wakeboarder when you turn it up. So, in my mind, the NVS addictions are a good choice for wakesurfing and wakeboarding. Whereas the Pro485s and the Entity are good for projecting the sound back to wakeboarder, but may be harsher sounding for wakesurfing.

Since I had to make my decision quickly and I liked the sound of your speakers both in the boat and behind the boat, I am going for the Addictions. Tim from Wetsounds has emailed me and pointed me to a dealer here in Utah. So, I may be able to go up and hear them in a store, but I know it will be different on the water.

I already have an amp that does 300 watts X 2 that I got off Ubid last year. Since you own the addictions and your friend has the Pro485, if you had a choice today, what speaker would you choose?

It is a remote contol that is good up to 300 ft. Tige Water Sports found the company and is now doing them as part of the stereo package.

The ordering on that website transmits your credit card and personal data to a php script via POST that is NOT a secure transaction. After that, it apparently tries to send this non encrypted transaction data to an email address, which is like an advertisement to steal the info......

I would not order from that website!

I have the Skylon Rubicon 350s on my boat and everyone that rides behing it love them. There loud and clear. I am only running 150 rms to each side but I will be adding another amp this summer and will have 300 rms per side, still under max rms. I love my Skylons. They also dont blast your ears out while your in the boat.

I have the NVS Entity 1010's in my boat, with the four tens and the 2 horn drivers they are LOUD!! Esp when I turn them up. I have had people actually ask me to turn them down when we have been ar party islands before All I can say is Duane stands behind his product and is a great guy to deal with. I'll gladly let anyone listen to mine. I'll have my boat out here by the beginning of the year, and still plan on using it year round, so anyone game The 1010's are not that loud really in the boat, IMO, but then again I like my music loud, so maybe some people think they are. I have heard a lot of other speakers out there, and so far I haven't heard anything close to the NVS's. I wired them all up and did everything by myself, so have no idea where to send you to have the work done.

From what I have read on wakeworld, the Entity's do a great job of getting music out to the rider without making it too loud in the boat. 2 of those babies are a lot of sound.

How are you going to amp those three speakers? Are you going to run the two smaller speakers in stereo off one amp and run the center speaker in mono off of a different amp?

I think I will be using 1 4 channel amp. 2 channels for the Pro 80's and 2 for the 485. I talked with the guys at Wired for Sound about it the other day and that is what they recommed. I am going to have them do the stereo so I will leave it up to them to get it done right.

from what I know, they are crystal clear at 75 feet out. As long as you are going, they are not too loud in the boat

How many amps are you going to run to the Pro80s?

He is using one 4 channel amp for all three speakers. The Pro 80s will get one channel each and he will bridge two channels for the 485.

I plan to run somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 to each speaker. I was curious what he is planning to run.

I haven't finalized my decision yet and the wetsounds are still in the running. I am going call Wetsounds and discuss watts, since I have already have an amp that does 2 X 300 watts. I don't know if that will overdrive the Pro 80s.
