This one is used. It's actually one of the media boats, so I'm told, with a few modifications after the fact. This one:

They installed the 2:1 later on and replaced the terrible rear sliding seat with the flip over seat. I'm not positive, but I think the PNP came from the factory which I don't think is/was normal. No surf pipe/exhaust, yet. I was very impressed with how quiet it was though. Much quieter than I remember the rzx2 we tested once being. We are very happy about that.

I bought my tige from him in '12 when it was just him and a mechanic running that place. he was the only dealer in the valley willing to take my supra on trade and give me a decent deal. I think he lost some coin on the deal as he was trying to grow the tige brand but he was fantastic to deal with from the sale to the few warranty issues at the end of the first season. even managed to get me pink decals to replace the silver that came off after a few months.

I would not hesitate to go back to him again for a boat.....

Tyrell does still run/own the place. Your observations are the same as mine. I'm hoping for no warranty issues though. It's a long drive.

Very good points. I really wanted my next boat to be supercharged, or at least better running at our elevation. That's what got me so interested in the FI23. That new hull is allowing them to run heavy weight here in Utah with a NA engine. Jason got me a smoking deal on a supercharged 3, but in the end it was still too much for me. So we had to pass. Boulder Boats has a used supercharged 3 that was sold when I first contacted them. Then it wasn't sold any more so we started talking numbers. I put in a final offer and then never heard from them again. The day after I brought this one home they more or less accepted my offer. That was lame! We like the colors much better on our new one though. But no worries suits me much better.
Chad was great though and took ours out for some tests I asked him to do. His lake is just under 3000' so I had to take that into consideration. Here's what he did, copied from an email:

"These are the results…

No ballast, two people in the boat, and a 1100lb. ballast bag in the middle.

Cruising speed of 22.5 MPH – 3800 RPMs

30 MPH – 4700 RPMs

Full ballast with overflow 500lb. bags (4,000 lbs.), two people in the boat, 800lb. bag in the bow, 1100lb. bag in the middle, and an additional 800lb. bag in the rear… AKA a lot of weight!

13 MPH – 3800 RPMs, accelerated to this speed without hesitation, impressed how fast it got there actually.

11.8 – 3600 RPMs

Cruising speed of 22.5 MPH – 4450 RPMs

30 MPH – 5300 RPMs"

After those results I figured it was worth a shot. It does have the 2:1 transmission with a 17" prop so I'm sure that helps. I also do not plan to run any lead, and just take the wave for what it is, which should be ok, even in stock form. I blame this next part on Bakes5: I have also realized there is more to boating than just surfing. Chad threw in a knee board and a kids wakeboard and if we must, we have tubes as well. We decided to expand our horizons this year. As much as I love surfing, I love watching my kids having fun out there even more. They still don't care what size the wave is. All three are under 100 pounds so it's not like they need a monster.
Our main lake is 4200'. Once or twice a year we hit up another one at 6200'. I don't expect much there and that's ok. The other lakes we go to on occasion are around 3000'. Should be fine there.

All I know for sure is that the water needs to warm up!

That’s amazing! And then it went 30mph? Holy ballsacks.

With or without surf tabs deployed? That would be a massive wave! I have only ever been in a slammed RZX that had somewhere around 5200 lbs in it at 1100’ and the wave is great, but the boat is struggle bus on hot days.

That 2:1 must make an unreal difference!

Lucky Peak is actually just over 3k ft elevation(not by much though). Lake was higher when those numbers were taken but they've been lowering it to make room for snow melt. They blew it last year, hoping that's not the case this year.

I'm not optimistic. Looks like they are really only getting rid of 200CFS or so when you add up the gauges. Seems like they need to run Arrowrock discharge a bit more...but they are the experts

Funny thing to me is they had to pull the bridge on the greenbelt because of last year. Now they are applying for a 500k grant from FEMA to repair the damage. So a federally run dam caused the flood damage and have to apply for fed money to repair damage. One hand washes the other right?? Seems like the CoE should be footing the bill out of their budget. Bureaucracy at its finest I guess.

Sorry for off topic rant. BTW Sandm and Unstuck, thanks for the shout outs. Tyrell is also a great guy to work for. 4th year here and no plans on leaving.

Poor mans in the rzx 2. From our experience at 6-7k feet the 440 struggles in the 3 with pnp a little too much for us. It is adequate though. We only do the 575. I’m sure he will be fine though. Boat looks awfully purdy.

For tubes I ONLY use the single person disc types. Those multi person tubes are either boring or else accidents waiting to happen.

You'll have to supply the oxygen for me and NOS for the boat! I'm very interested in a sky ski. Looks like a good time. We usually run two, one person doughnut tubes at a time. Helps separate the kids a bit, so in my mind it's safer. Probably not though.

We normally boat at Willard bay because it has the warmest water. We hit up jordanelle once or twice for events like fire on the lake. We also run down to sand hollow for early and late season outings. Then try to hit Powell and lake mead at least once season.

Where are you at?

West Valley.. we hit Rockport mainly as it’s the least crowded. Flaming gorge 1-2 times a year and Powell 2-3 times a year. Haven’t been to Willard in years!
