Lake Mead is up 8 feet since the reunion!!! Common Rain keep dumping on Mead.

Thats a ton..... I wonder how much it will rise with the runoff, I will admit I have no clue about water allocation or if mead is even affected by snow runoff but I know the mountains are getting hammered.

I haven't dug deep into the water manager's statements, but I think it is Lake Mead's year to get any excess water from the Colorado River. With the winter currently shaping up really good, Mead could make out pretty nicely. The water rights and such were created by thousands of lawyers, so it never is quite that easy.

A while back, I read something stating that they were rethinking the "Powell first" strategy as lake Powell is primarily in sandstone and a measurable of water in the reservoir is lost through absorption and that actually Lake Mead is the better one due to the primarily granite lake bed... We can only hope...

Booked the cabin again this year... can't go wrong with the price and I love being able to have the truck/boat in front of the cabin if need be. Anyhow, not sure if it was the last one as Dave's post came in on the heels of my reservation. So, there may be one more available if anyone else is interested. I love the cabins.. the full-size fridge and the oven for cooking works out great in my opinion.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again even though it is still 8 months away! Temple bar should be scratching their heads on how to make things better for how much money we all end up spending there.

was out in phoenix last weekend and good to see all the news on the snowpack and rain hitting the entire western region. was good to see although it does come with some initial short term pain with the flooding and snow...

on a sad note, watched the phoenix fox10 guy thursday morning and he was explaining how the water gets from powell/mead to phoenix. he then went on to explain the canal that brings water from the colorado to the valley. next mentioned that through the water rights negotiation process, phoenix got a much larger share. he mentioned 2x that all of this is the reason phoenix residents do not need to ration water.
as I watched all of this, I kept thinking to myself if half the people in cali and nevada saw this, they would lynch him on the spot... moron..

Looking to start getting some numbers together, since we already sold the place out figure we might as well get a jump on the numbers as we already have sponsors jumping to donate again after last years huge success. I will put out the disclaimer that we did last year, if for whatever reason you are not able to make it to the event and need to cancel a room can you PLEASE let me or DP Powell know so we can get the room filled by another Tige Owner.
