See....this is why I just said screw it all and have moved on from surfing. Just too many variables to keep track of and I hate it when my lake mojo is ruined because I only had an 8 out of 10 wave and it just wasn't as good as it was that one time when everything aligned. Surf waves are like powder days snowboarding. Each year, you get that incredible day or 2 that are off the hook. You spend the rest of the year chasing that feeling and leave the mountain not quite satisfied because, while the day was pretty sweet, it just didn't quite stack up to that one super awesome day. Or, you bring your buddy and are pretty stoked about the snow that day and he's like "meh, you should go to Alaska."

Someday, when my neck, shoulders and knees force me into the surfing corner, I'll probably spend the time. Hopefully by then, the turn key, out of the box, super sweet surf boat will be common place and we will all laugh about how hard it was to set up those old boats back in 2016.

Nope, I have 9.5/10 surf days every time out. The variables might come with weather, or chop, or something. But not the boat.

Not hard to set up, just no substitute for setting it up right the first time.

As I contend, it is being made out to be more complex than it is. You can be a fool and get it to level 8, it takes skill and experiments to get levels 9 and 10. For most people? Level 8 is juuuuuust fine.

I think its most important that we focus on why we are even on the water. For me it's time with my family. No phones, computers, etc, and the kids can't run away from me! They are stuck being with mom and dad in close quarters. I love it!

The worst day on the water for me was when I came to the conclusion that my "TAPS 21" system was not going to work on our boat. You know what we did? Turned the system off and slapped on our suckgate. We surfed, swam, tubed the rest of the day and had a blast.

^^^yep. As long as you put hours on the boat everything else works itself out.

            Sooo....what are the current candidates?

We are down to one candidate. But at the risk of jinxing myself.............................

If your candidate is Bernie Sanders, I should let you know that he is no longer in the race

Embellishing? Not at all. Lots and lots of info needed to make sure the parameters are correct for a TAB based surf system. LOTS.

I wasnt saying that deployed and stowed angle are separate things that need to be adjusted rather that those angles and positions are very important especially with hulls that don't have a flat transom like a 24VE. I think even the novice would understand that their is only so much stroke in an actuator lol.

You tend to be on this crusade for GSA which is all fine and dandy, really it is. They make some of the most awesome plates I have ever seen, I even called GSA and asked about the option on my boat. No one is bashing the specific system. Personally I don't have an allegiance to anyone except my friends thats it.

Like I said lets talk about ALL the systems, gates etc over a beer sometime rather then on here this probably isnt the place..... that didnt register... at all. So here goes again...

Dakota... lets chat about this over a beer sometime!!!!!

Roger that. Not on a crusade for GSA, more likely on a crusade against the notion that older, cheaper boats can't kick some serious ***, and its not that hard. The runaway boat price freight train is misleading people to a certain degree in this regard. Intertwined might be a crusade against GSA overcomplication. I really think theGerman has an install issue. I think he will work it out, I think. When I was considering GSA on my 24Ve prior to the F24, the swim platform brackets were absolutely an issue. If those have not been modified, I would seriously question the functionality of the setup. I think theGerman is going to explore that in depth. He also has been the victim of bad information along the way. Which really kind of sucks.

I can't just drink one beer, BTW. So I will grab a case.

I know I know, save your money, be conservative--its not sexy. But neither am I?

The largest Enzo sacs possible in each side, and a 650 U-bag in the bow (I had 1800 left and 1600 right by my math). Lots of pumps for fill. Own 600# of lead for under the side seats and bow, and keep a 500# over the side bag around for small crew days and/or the bow. List that hog over to 15 degrees, drive 11.4-12, and behold the beauty.

If you want go full monty, make a duffy flap and trim the swim deck down.

Then, scare all your passengers with lean then delight them with a surf.

A case is awesome, maybe might need two. This will undoubtedly take place on a boat or two or three which means the surfers and non drivers will be drinking.
