Finished it up. Seems pretty solid for how simply its mounted. Hard to know if angle downward will be enough or not but it does go down further than the TAPs plate does. One way to find out. Popped a little tack weld on the end so of the turn buckle threads so it cant back out all the way. Time to paint and get the water to warm up a bit so I can try it out.

I was surprised at how far down the TAP 3 plates go down. Almost vertical. I'm making mine to go just as far down. The feedback that I've gotten is that most people put the 3's all the way down while surfing and then adjust the TAPS 1 (?) trim tab to adjust the wave to the surfers liking. Hopefully that works on our older boats too.

Yes extra bent part at the end makes the TAPs 3 really is almost vertical from what I can tell. Supra goes vertical with theirs. GoSurfAssist angles look like the taps 3 except for their discharge plate funnels the water outwards. But for the simple mount I did on this one I was afraid to go too far down as it might just rip it off with too much pressure against it. Course if it doesn't seem to put too much against it I can always get a longer turn buckle and drop it down more. Or I can add a discharge angle plate to it to mimic the TAPs3 more than what it currently does. If this works roughly like I think it would that's when I'd buy one (Bennett or Lenco), mount it solid, and modify the plate for a more surf plate vs trim tab plate. Would have to change their ram angles some too. This should give me an idea to see it would work on a flatter hull vs the convex hulls without drilling any holes
and hating it. Plus I like to tinker

My balance was horrible on the board for some reason. But did get in a lot of good runs. Wore my arms out paddling back out though. Now Im ready for it to warm up just a bit here so I can hit the lake. Guess that means I better get the boat de-winterized and cleaned
