Just found out that we'll be relocating to the LA area from Colorado. Would be great to have a few contacts in the area.

Right now all around Riverside as that is where the plant is that I'm going to be managing. I'm interested in any advice or suggestions about the area. Looking all the way from Lake Arrowhead to Canyon City to potential get on some water.

TeamAllen is right, Canyon Lake would be a nice choice if you could find a home there you like. We almost bought there last year, but found a better home in Murrieta, so we passed. Canyon Lake is a private gated community with a small private lake. The boat length restriction is 21' or smaller. Either way, you still may find yourself making the long trek (4-5 hours) to the Colorado River (Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, Lake Havasu, Parker) like many of the rest us living in Southern California. So much more to do out there, and a great weekend get-away. Good luck on your search.

Canyon Lake is closed last I heard something about the city owes the state a bunch of money for water. The full story is on the net. I will get you and invite out Cashman.

Thegerman618, the lake is not closed. There are a few ongoing legal negotiations underway, but it's not closed. The bigger political issue in Canyon Lake right now is their break from CalFire and the creation of their own fire department.

Thanks for all the feedback. Not sure how a 45 minute commute would be day to day, but it might be worth it for the water. I have looked at Murrieta a little cause of the schools there, seems nice. Talked to the Tige dealer there in Corona and got the same info with being prepared to travel to boat. Looks like a new diesel might be in my future. Bit of a risk with the potential issues, will have to see that it's been vetted out prior to committing. Thanks for the invite.

One off topic question for you guys. Do you even winterize your boats? Debating on just getting it done here before shipping to CA. Don't want to take any risks so probably will just get it done.

When are you moving out to CA? It might be smart to winterize there, or at least drain the block before you drive the boat over here. And as far as winterizing here goes, it depends on where you are going to store it. In the high desert such as Palmdale or Victorville it can get cold enough to worry about winterizing, but I'm not sure how it is near Riverside. I would bet you probably don't need to drain the block in the basin area but if you aren't going to use the boat much during the colder months I would drain the block anyhow. The Wx service is predicting a big El Nino event this winter for SoCal, lots of rain, I'm not sure how that affects the temps though.

Should be within a month. I have probably false hopes of hitting the water a few more times, but need to just bite the bullet and get it done. With the move and weather conditions I'm sure I'm fooling myself.
