Purchased a 2014 Z1 over the weekend - transom shield protection

Well I bit the bullet and picked up a 2014 Z1 dealer leftover over the weekend. My question is, did any of you purchase the transom shield protection from the dealer or do it yourself? With the lines and the Tige logo on the transom, wasn't sure how hard it would actually be or if forking up the extra coin for the dealer to do it was worth it. http://www.vantageprotectionproducts...e/ProductID/21

I've never even heard of this. What are you trying to protect the transom from, exactly? On my boat, the transom probably has the least cosmetic damage of any surface.

On the back of or boat we got a small little chip from pulling in the surf rope and it hit. But I'm not sure what that would really save the transom from, no dock wear back there or anything

The dealers push for it was when putting on wakeboards and banging the side of the board on the transom. I haven't heard of it either and was curious to see if anyone had it.

I ran about a 4" high strip of sea deck above the swim step the width of the step. If you have kids that wake boat its a must. The clear tape on stuff isn't that good. Sea deck adds way more protection and I think it cost like $30 to do it.

My kids friends bang the crap out of my transom when putting on their wakeboard bindings. If you have kids it will be a great investment.

Here's what I do to protect mine: Put your DAMN board on in the water if you can't respect my boat! But seriously I won't allow boards to be put on while on my transom. I pay for it so that's that!! I put my slalom ski on but have the back fins off the edge and am very cautious.

friend of mine did the same boat with the 3m clear bra that you put on vehicles seems to holdup pretty well. but on my boat im with JLG on this everyone deep water starts period. the boats are pricey and all the surfboards are as well, not to mention the beating your padded swim platform takes, my vote is dive in.

Great Idea with Sea Deck. My BIL's MC transom looks like it has been thru a war because of Hydrofoil. The edge of his platform has so many chips in it, it looks like a prop has hit it because of the foils. All ski, boards etc had to be put on in the water by everyone except young children in training ski's on my boats. Friends laughed at me for my practice of flipping my ski out ten- twenty feet from boat but it loosened my legs to swim out to it. Habit I picked up when young and continued until I blew left knee (front leg)twice slalom skiing.

I have seen people use this product before on their boats, it resembles clear bra that you would have on your car. They do it across transom like others have stated to protect the boat from wakeboards dinging the boat when taking them on and off. I saw this video on youtube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9K78-DkrP4, looks like a good product but I have never used it before. If it actually does what it did in the video and you moor your boat all summer long and can prevent the bumper rash from being tied up I might try it out.

We wakeboard a bunch and have a few scratches from boards being put on. Worth the money IMO. Next boat we buy will have some sort of protection back there.

I have a blue hull and I've learnt to hate a dark color gelcoat for the scratches and related marks it gets. I honestly don't know how I get some of them considering we are always very good about not letting the boat touch the dock. The back gets quite a few from boards as well. I plan on putting a seadek type pad across the back as well at some point.

No way I can put my slalom bindings on in the water. Have to use the deck for that. We foil a lot and have not banged up anything. It's all the $&@$&@ 11 year olds who can put a wakeboard binding in without banging the transom.
