    lighting and tint thoughts?

Looking to do a few new upgrades this year now that I've got the stereo all done. what's everyone's thoughts on lighting? Meaning, lighting around speakers and say underwater lighting. I was looking at this drain plug light. ... but there are a few cheaper ones out there as well I might consider. Has anyone tried these?http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...735814&alt=web

Also what about tint....yes or no?

    Thanks!!

I think tint looks great on a boats windshield but i've never driven a boat with it done. I'd say go for it based on looks alone.

As for the drain plug light, if that drain plug light is $230 i think there might be better options out there for a bit more cash. There was a comparison done on WakeWorld a while back that compared all the brands that you might find helpful. Might have to do some searching for it.

Here is a thread from TheMalibuCrew on one of the best DIY led projects I have found yet. I plan on doing this but havnt started yet.
I know this is not the ~$100 per speaker ring setup and you get what you pay for. However, for some of us this is all we can afford (or wife allows [emoji22]). Hope this helps and post pics of your results.

If you going to do under water lights, i would not do drain plug lights. ( be a pain to remove after ever trip) I made a light bar that bolts to my FAE Only had to drill one small hole for the wires
Tige, it's a way of life!

Man, I thought that might be a cheap way to go, just curious, why would it be a pain? I was thinking one would just leave some extra length on the wires and just unscrew the plug, let the plug hang by the wires as the water drains and then just put the plug back in for travel? Maybe that won't work? We don't boat much at night, so I was looking for a cheap way for the few times we're sitting in the water for some ambiance.

Not that hard to install underwater lights through the transom. I documented on this thread http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...erwater+lights

On my boat the drain plug is just over the taps plate.
That tee will require me to disconnect the ram to fold the plate out of the way.

The light bar I made cost me about $70 for everything (aluminum / LED strips)
I got the LED's from ebay and I have had it for about 5 years with no issue ( I know other will tell you the water proof LED strips don't last) I have a total of 800 LEDs that use 5 amps and light up the cove nicely (I use to light the cove when we swim at night to see the rocks and fish)
Tige, it's a way of life!

Has anyone attached one to the swim deck? That seems easier and less holes drilled into the boat, but maybe not look as clean with just a wire coming out of the transom??

The deeper the light is into the water, the better the illumination. With the light right at the surface, you get more reflection off the water then penetration.

Regular removal and re installation of a drain plug light will take its tole on the harness.

I guess I didn't think about the taps plate being in the way....onto maybe speaker lights....anyone think having those might be a fun upgrade?

I final got a chance to take some pics. There are around 500 on the bar and 300 around the edge of the swim deck. I adjust the contrast so you can see the LED’s in the second photo.
