this sounds like a problem I am experiencing with my boat. The boat is currently at the Tige dealer in South Africa, but they are struggling to diagnose and correct the problem. It's a 2006 22V, only done 87 hours, it starts and then almost immediately goes into limp mode. had both batteries replaced with new, and still the problem persists. according to the mechanic working on it, he found it's only recording 1.2 volts at the TAC module when the standard voltage is 5v - does this sound consistent with your diagnosis above?Originally posted by chpthril View PostThe 06 was unique for a few things. 1st year for the TBW and the EIDB. When the boat got order with EIDB, the single battery harnesses got split to both batteries. this resulted in the ECM "seeing" 2 different voltage inputs. If there was little difference in the battery voltage of the 2 banks, it cause the ECM to set a code 81 and go into safe mode. So not a voltage issue with the cranking battery that prevented engine starting, but a computer input voltage issue that cased some confusion within the ECM. This also bled into the early 07 models before the harness was rewired.
Given the age of the boat, the throttle POT is a likely issue.

greg I boat with some people that have an 06 22v and theirs was doing as you describe with the limp mode and they replaced the entire throttle handle with potentiometer and they never had the issue again. If I remember correctly it was a throttle by wire issue with the ecm or such not seeing enough voltage and sent it into limp mode almost instantly after throttling up. On my 07 when the pot was bad it wouldn't accelerate at all but wouldn't go into limp mode or set any warning lights off on dash.
For no more than the pot cost it might be worth "throwing parts" into it. The entire throttle assembly is pricey though.

Does your boat have the Tige EIDB dual battery setup that was technically released on the 06 Ve or the more traditional dual battery setup with a 1/2/BOTH/OFF switch? The 06 Ve's were prone to voltage issue due to the new setup. it caused a limp mode and a code 81.Originally posted by race fan View PostI have throttle by wire and Tige speed set.
Check the knock sensor connector. This will also cause a limp mode with no other symptom visible.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Sorry to hi-jack but I believe I have the same issue on my 08 rz2. It will run all day just fine and then out of nowhere I can get it up to 10mph on a pull and that's it for the day. I think this may be the issue but not sure. TBW and tige speed set 340 marine power.Sometimes you have to do what feels good, rather than what feels right.
