First weekend back! Somes Pics of the new stereo.

Well it's been 5 weeks since I've been on the water, so I'm pretty excited to get back out this Sunday. Here's a few pics of the tower speakers that are fully functioning now. I still need a few more 6x9's in the hull but it's pretty damn loud out the back.

Nice, what mirrorbracket are you using?

I thought I wouldnt be able to fit the boat in the garage if I had one. But it looks the way yours is mounted, it will be lower than the tower when it's folded down

The bracket is the one that comes with the Liquid Trends enclosures. The enclosures are great but the brackets could definitely be a little better.

Unfortunetely my other expensive hobby is taking up my garage so I have to keep the boat in the side yard. I'll have to come up with another mounting solution if I get a bigger garage some day.

Loud music on the lake

I don't want to sound like the old guy that I am but I'm curious on what some of you think. I starting to find myself looking at some of these boats running around blaring their music the way I look at the young punks in the cars that all you can hear is the "thump, thump, thump" and sheet metal rattling.

I love boating, love my new Tige, love listening to music on the lake. What I don't have is tower speakers and I don't play my music to be so loud I intrude on others that may be enjoying the sanctity of simply being on the water.

I know, old fart speaking..... I'm just curious if those of you with these speakers think about others trying to enjoy thier day or you simply are out for yourselves? Seems like most people that can afford a $50k plus toy would be a little older and maybe more in-tune with what I'm saying and not trying to act like we are a bunch of teenagers.

Past that, beatiful boat you have. I hope it brings you and your family many years of great memories.

I can definitly understand where you are coming from. We had just a plain ol' i/o for quite some time, and I was always a bit frusterated when someone would drive super close, blaring some ridiculous rap song (or rock sock, whatever). When we got our tower speakers, we decided that they would be used only when it wouldnt interrupt anyone elses fun on the lake. I am 19 btw, so you are not just thinking like that because you are older. It has more to do with maturity, and some people just never grow up.

Well 2 things.

1. I work at Rockford Fosgate so the system was a freebie for a write-up. I would probably buy a couple cans on the tower and a basic system internally if I had to pay for it.

2. I agree with you to some extent. It really irritates me when those typical tough guy jocks blast their music at the beach. I do have to say that it's very fun to wakeboard while listening to music. I'm sure you've seen a wakeboard/snowboard/skate video... imagine how exciting it would be with just the sounds of wheels on pavement (for skating). Right, it wouldn't be at all. Add the music and it makes for a much more thrilling ride. Try it someday and you will understand why I have so many speakers up there

In no way was I pointing a finger at you and I don't think you assumed that I was. I just brought up the subject will admiring your boat.

I fully understand and appreciate the music. My i-Pod has over 5000 songs loaded with every type of music made except jazz (just don't get it, sorry). Music is part of my life. My point is that music, along with all other daily noise, surrounds me constantly. It used to be that being on the water was truely a relaxing space to be. Usually the only interuption was the occasional load pipes on some flat bottom boat. Now it seems that the punk in the Honda Civic with the "thump, thump, thump" somehow has aquired a 22v and is passing me on the lake-with the "thump, thump, thump".

While I understand that you deserve to relax like the rest of us, I just want everyone to remember that others may not relax as you do. Just a reminder to all that the sport we all are here for needs to remain as curtious as possible at all times. Boaters are still the best and most friendly bunch I know!

Since you asked-

Got to my little secret spot (not really all that secret) last Sunday and there was only one other boat there. We hung out on the side while they finished their slalom set and chilled out, listened to some tunes and made ready to ride. While we were hanging out, another family snuck in behind us. We gave the usuall "what ups" and it was pretty clear we all understood the common sence rules of sharing the secret spot. Cool. They proceded to hang out and make ready but then, out of nowhere, comes the blaring, god awefull sound of pop country. If I had to guess, maybe Travis Trit or something to that effect. They had the tower speakers pointed right at us. Unacceptable. Fortunately I had put in a new system over the winter (RF power Dylan ),and was able to send a bass message that got through loud and clear. They turned it down and a good time was had by all. It was nice to drop a bass bomb and have the effects work for the common good. So chalk one up for the good stereo guys.

I do play it loud when we are out in open water and we are surfing. Thanks to the FAE, my two 6X9s on the tower are plenty. When we get into smaller areas with other boats around, I keep it down, but it sure is nice to keep the bottom end full while it's down. I know how it is and the amount of disrepectful boaters is growing by the day. All you can do is try to set some sort of example for those that might not realize how loud their music is on the open water. Either that or the Fuzz will make us all keep it down all the time.

Boating (especially where I'm at) is starting to become the new "trend" which is causing more and more problems out on the water. There's a lot of money flying around here and people with no boating experience are dropping their cash on the biggest/loudest boats they can afford.

I grew up on the lakes and back in the day it seemed to be the one place that everyone could just get along and have a great time regardless of age/boat/money etc. Now every other wakeboard/Speed boat I pass gives me the finger for no apparent reason other then impressing the drunk girls aboard their boat.

It's scary knowing that someone who has never even been in a boat can purchase one and launch the same day with absolutely no training. I almost wish you had to have a boaters license to even get behind the wheel.

Anyone want to go in on building a private lake?

I agree with that. Where I live in Florida I have 4 ramps within a 10 minute drive and it is absolutely amazing what you see on the water. Just a couple weeks ago a dad killed his son when he ran over him after he fell out of the bow of the boat they had purchased the night before. He was planing through a no wake zone because he did not know what a wake was. Every weekend is like that and I agree that it is too trendy now. I would pay lobby money myself if some congressional big whig would start up a "Boating License" bill. Luckily with each municipality on the water around here having their own water cop there is a little more control than say around Miami...but sill insane.

We've got the same problem around here. The last few years has seen a boom of unrivaled proportions in boating. This has created countless bad situations every weekend. The sad truth is that once enough people die they will get around to some legistation. In Nevada, anybody born after 1980 (I think) needs to have completed a boating saftey coarse in order to opperate a boat. The problem is, most people 26yo and under aren't the ones buying the boats. IMO, a boat lisence is in order for anyone who opperates a boat. It's absurd that one isn't required.

I've been boating all my life and it used to be that every single boat you passed gave at least a quick wave. I got flipped off just last Sunday. For what you ask? Imagine if you will an area 2mi. long and a mile wide with flat water thought the whole thing. Lots of space right. We are chillin' at the very end and off to one side and this guy feels it's a good idea to pull his wakeboarder with his obviously fully ballasted Centurion in a circle around us. Yeah, lets throw full boarding wakes at this guy minding his own business from three directions so that they all hit him at the same time. Thanks a lot buddy. I let it go but the next time he came by, looking to do the same exact thing again, I decide I'm not going to let him. I have to tell everybody to sit down while I manuever around in order to keep from getting swamped. While doing so I figure it's best to drive away and not get in a fight. So I'm pulling away and the guy flips me off. The days of common courtesy seem to be long gone and the only ones I really seem to get along with are the slalom people. 90% of the rest of the people are absolutely clueless as to rules or common sence or common courtesy. I'm seriously considering a career change in order to have weekdays off. It's gotten that bad. Waaa.
