When did the 24V begin?

I'm looking at buying a 2003 24v. Anyone know if it would have the composite ConvexV hull w/ TAPS2 in 2003?

I emailed Tige, they thought all 2003 had the wood stringers

I have yet to see a wood stringer fail on a Tige.

The V model ran from 2003 to mid year 2006. I have forgotten when the stringers changed.

My 2004 had a "Penske Composite Sticker" on the Windshield I think. Maybe email the seller to look for that sticker? Also have a decal that says Taps2 on it. Maybe have the owner check for that too.

As Talltigeguy said, you don't see any threads on here about "how do I fix my rotted out stringers". I could be wrong but I think Sanger still uses wood on their new boats.

I ran into an old Tige press release when I was researching my boat and it made it sound like 2004 was the first year of the 24V and that it was the redesigned 23V. Same press release said in 2004 they updated the 22V to also use the composite. It made me curious if the 2003 24V's you see are just early 2004's that use the composite or if they briefly made wood versions of the 24V.

I was wondering this same thing. I'm in the process of buying a 2003 24V from the Tigé dealer here, and on the Tigé website it shows 2004 as the first year (shows 23V for 2003). I've looked around the web and there are quite few 2003 24V models out there, so I think Tigé's memory is a little off. I've been wondering this exact question, so I'll be watching this thread closely. My guess is what Stingreye posited...maybe they started making the new model late in the 2003 model year...but everyone back at the factory just saw these as 2004s. Who knows?

BTW, this is my first post...glad to be part of the family. After my lake test on Wednesday we'll make our final decision and post some pics, but looking forward to owning my first Tigé and in fact, my first boat (grew up with my dad's I/O, but that was over 20 years ago). Looking forward to the journey and meeting some fellow owners.

Tige has a long history of changing things midstream. Trying to track down hard answers on what year had what is always a mixed bag. Stingreye has some of the best info I think you're going to find, those stickers.

The original TAPs was all hydraulic and had a flat trim plate. The TAPS2 is electric and has angles at the end of the plates. Someone could probably correct me but I think thats it.
Having had both I couldn't tell a difference in wake shape or size. They both seem to shape the wakes the same.

The 23V was retired in 2003 and the 24V originated in 2004. I believe Tige stopped using wood stringers in late 2003.

So I checked the VIN, the boat was manufactured in the first half of 2003 (May). So it doesn't seem like it was an 2004 built at the end of 2003. Maybe an early production model? Its a little confusing.

Matt, This looks to be the 24V hull. The sloped transom is a dead giveaway. This seems to be a 2003 24V.

The last two digits denote the official year model, what are they? A boat built 5/03 would be near the end of the 03 model production. 2015's are going to start rolling out in the next few months.

So, does this look like a TAPS2 or TAPS plate, Matt? This is a pic of the 2003 24V I'm planning on buying this week. Wakesurfid, is this what "yours" looks like?

That's taps2. Dogeared corners, Lenco actuator. Lenco actuators are electric. A year or so later, they went back to Bennett hydraulic actuators.

That is TAPS2. tall, that does seem to be a 24V.
