    Carpet Replacement Ideas

So my carpet is starting to get old in my boat. I like the look of the fake teak products. Anyone ever install them on a tige? Tiges carpet that runs up an inch or so all around is my only concern. Also things like my kick panel etc... might have to be done. Thoughts?

I'm thinking about seadek myself for when I have to replace the carpet. I just replaced the rubber "e" swim platform with seadek and it's really nice. The faux teak has a nice texture so it's not slippery when wet. I'm planning to try to strip as much glue off as possible and then use a white bed liner for the unfinished fiberglass and then add the seadek on top of that. There will have to be a custom template made to integrate the floor door and the little kick panels but it's very doable.

Sounds like an awesome project! Are you taking the carpet out of the compartments?

I would love to get the carpet out of the compartments, but that would be a big project! I wonder how hard the carpet glue will be to get off the gelcoat?

I have grey and white interior. Do you think the teak would look odd with that? I could do the grey fake teak and it would all blend together.

The teak does look cool! I wonder how long the template process would take.

Seadek is pretty tough stuff. Only thing I worry about is the adhesive, but the stuff I put on last year stuck well. Even the transom saver I applied above the swim step that spends a lot of time submerged(while the boat is at rest the bottom was underwater).

I would give yourself 2 months from the start of the process (ordering the template kit) to getting a finished product for your boat.

I've personally seen and felt Ewok's install of that material and it is First Rate. Both the material and his installation of it are absolutely beautiful. He did a ton of up-front research on it so if anyone is considering a similar job, I'd start by getting his opinion. He's been there, done that, and the results are spectacular.

Did you replace the carpet on inside of the boat?

Thanks Timmy! and WABoating, I got the idea from Duncan on this site, he let me use his order number to get the patterns started, but I had to make some changes and get new templates made for my boat. They really are all hand-made and they all have slight little differences. I just put the pics up so Duffy can see what the color looks like against a blue/grey colored Tige. As you can see, the grey would look great flowing into the cabin of the boat to replace the carpet.
