The board really is fantastic, nothing but good things to say. I am 190# and it keeps me up without the rope no problems. I even had my 30# 5yo daughter on the board with me without the rope and it kept us both up without issue.Originally posted by talltigeguy View PostNice work!
DIY carbon fiber is very sweet.
How do you like that surfboard, I am for sure looking for something new, and have wondered if that might be a good one?

Absolutely, the year before last we were out on New Year's Day and it was just beautiful. I have yet to need a wetsuit out there. Always have them in the boat, just never have needed it. I learned to ski as a kid on some very cold Idaho mountain lakes where the water is in the 50s in July. The water is 68deg right now at Mead which is great.Originally posted by chpthril View PostSome of us are going to get together in Jan for a Mead surf run, wanna join?

How hard was it to remove and re-install the main dash panel? I did the exact same thing as you with the carbon fiber wrap material on my lower three panels but I have been procrastinating on the main one because it looks like removing all of the gauges and making sure the wires stay organized/get hooked back up into the correct terminals might be a pia.

And I WILL be wearing my wetsuit, chpthril is still looking for his "boys" after his surf run last year. Air was 50 water was 51 if I remember right and dingles "dry"suit almost sunk him, ha! Good times and looking forward to this year!Originally posted by chpthril View Postso far its me, dingle, bad05 and dan aka dan&christy. right now, we are looking at Sat the 11th

Yeah it wasn't fun and although it looks pretty decent there are still some areas I don't like. I first did it with the gauges on and just loosened everything and cut holes in the vinyl to make it work etc. Then I didn't like that result which actually didn't look too terrible for not taking apart the dash. Later I decided to just do it right and pulled it all off. I wish the material was a bit sticker though because it did bubble up around the gauges a bit in some spots.Originally posted by cpropes2005 View PostHow hard was it to remove and re-install the main dash panel? I did take pics of all the wiring before unplugging, my temp gauge is now not working though so I need to get that figured out.
Overall I am happy with the result though.

Great looking boat. Love the color combo.
- Did you take the glass out and powdercoat the windshield frame before (the first pic) or was it always black?
- Can the Deckadence do custom embroidery?
- How's the tint out on the water?
Again, Nice, very Nice!Last edited by EricU; 11-16-2013, 02:20 AM.Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head... Eric

1. Windshield frame was always black.Originally posted by EricU View PostGreat looking boat. Love the color combo.

2. I would send Steve an email, I just told him I wanted the Tige' logo on the front bow piece. He sent me a mockup so I could visualize the size and adjust if needed. He also sent me several examples of other Tige's he has done with borders and custom graphics. I know he can do different colors, borders, logos etc.
The fit and finish came out perfect. I figured with my less than perfect plastic template that I did in the dark with a headlamp, would likely lead to a few small gaps here and there but everything fit absolutely perfect. The front bow snaps lined up perfect and the larger back piece fit exact. The family really likes how it feels on their feet and after adding the Deckadence, it really felt like a new boat, we love it.
3. My wife originally didn't want the tint, thought it was a waste of money, she really likes it now though, added a nice contrast and enhanced the overall look. Tint was 20% and driving wasn't an issue. I usually sit on a small booster/knee and look just above the windshield. I did look through the windshield a fair amount too and thought it was fine even wearing sunglasses. A dark stormy day may be more problematic but we skip the lake when wind or rain is in the forecast. Wife just chimed in, said she looked through it the entire time (this past weekend) and thought it was totally fine.Last edited by Tige22i; 11-16-2013, 04:48 AM.
