Are the guys talking crap not Tige owners??

I have a 2000 22i without any ballasts and when driving the boat at no wake speeds and once you slow down, the bow dips & rides very low to the water line. I have learned to eliminate most small wakes to roll over the bow, but I occasionally still take on water.

Hello all,

My name is Jason, I am obviously new to the forum. I have and have had boats my entire life. Just sold my Bayliner to step up to a boat with the capabilities of wakesurfing. I do wakeboard and water ski with my friends and family, but surfing is calling my name. On another forum (sorry), I kinda asked about the boat I was looking at and received a lot of negative responses. I am looking at a 1998 Tige, can be seen here, http://denver.craigslist.org/boa/4080075221.html. People are saying that adding the weight to make it surf worthy will make it also VERY prone to taking water over the bow, pretty much making the bow seating unusable during surfing time. I figured the best place to get a good answer is with the people who own these boats. So please, let me know your thoughts. PS. I boat on a smaller reservoir where we do have a wetslip and can bail out from the lake in about 10 mins max. Thanks and happy boating!!

I generally like to look at a boat based on what it was made for... so if surfing will be your primary passion... then when money allows z1 or z3. wakeboard specific more the RZ2\RZ4, new ASR. and obviously if your passion is slalom then direct drive. I think others should chime in... becasue the 22v and 22ve's might be the best all round boat? but opionons I am sure will differ.

my take is that is a good looking boat for a 98 and in damn good shape. but as others note, it will take on water alot easier based on how high its sits out of the water and and much easier weighted. But my take also is for that price you can afford to buy, use it, and then upgrade down the road as well and probably not get beat up to bad price wise if you take good care of it.

Thanks for all the tips. Seems like I should be ok with on of these older tiges. Like was said, use it and upgrade in a few years. Good times!! I am excited about another type of boat for us to use.
