I will be there from August 7-10.

I think I know TeamAllen's secret hiding place, but won't be up the lake too far since this is a short trip for us.

Will likely get there in the evening of the 7th, take the houseboat out on the 8th for a couple of nights.
    Be excellent to one another.

We are usually in one of the canyons in Last Chance Bay or in Wetherill Canyon.

Not sure where we will end up due to the low lake levels this year.

I like being close to Dangling Rope marina cause the family would prefer that I decimate the bathrooms there every morning vs. in the house boat.

So my daily routine is to go over there early every morning. Fill up the boat, get some ice and use the facilities.

We usually like to stay deep into the canyon like where it begins to wind around like a stream.

Most likely we will not be there this year as I am not sure the water is deep enough to grant access deep into the canyon.

We will be there all next week.

I am thinking of trying the two canyons before Wetherill. They are not as deep but wider.

Here was a video my daughter took going deeper into the canyon. You might recognize some of it?

One of the other owners usually goes to Grotto Canyon if there isn't already a boat in there.
We were there in July 2011 also.

We beached in the canyon just before Wetherill as we had 4 houseboats in our party and couldn't find a large enough beach in Wetherill.

July 2011 the lake was really high and we took the same trip deep into Wetherill on our jet skies.

Funny but I recall seeing a houseboat quite deep into the canyon.

We take off on Saturday so keep your eye out for a red 22i with a Canadian flag.

We are always at Powell the 3rd week of Sept. We always try and find a new spot each year since this will only be our 4th year going. We are thinking about trekking up to Oak Canyon this year. We did Rock Creek 2 years ago, and Last Chance this past year. Any thoughts on Oak Canyon?

I think it might be one of those high risk high reward scenarios. Luckily my buddy leaves 2 days before us so he ends up doing all the scouting etc... He then sends us the gps coordinates and we cruise to the spot and beach our houseboat next to his.

Watch out for the Oregon state police. They are like flies on **** when it comes to speeding tickets! That state has to make up for no sales tax somehow.

For those that plan on going to Lake Powell this summer I highly recommend Friendship Cove.

It is at at buoy 34.

Normally it had no beaches but with the lake level so low lots of beaches have been exposed.

Just spent a fantastic 7 days there.

Best site in the last three years at Lake Powell.

Thunderstorms in the middle of the night were pretty awesome...but I really don't appreciate waking up at 3 am to water on my face.

We putted up and back at about 4 knots and only burned 35gallons round trip including the generator. Tige had 513miles on it that trip though... here's some pics from Oak

Boatwakes what time did you roll out of the marina and what time did you make it to Oak Canyon? Also were you out of Page or Bullfrog?

Left out of wahweap (page) at around 10am and motored up the line with the whaler and tige in tow, houseboat on one engine at just below engine speed where the prop was throwing cavitation bubbles (around 3.5-4knots). TRUST ME, run the houseboats slow and you won't burn nearly the fuel some of these guys do, an extra mile an hour or two translates into exponential fuel consumption increases. Oak canyon is 54 miles up the lake according to the buoys (and going through antelope canyon) but probably only 40 with the cut through open. We ended up setting up camp around 6:30pm and had the island to share with some pyrotechnicians about half a mile away, good stuff.

Great pics BW. Is your tow point flipped upside down on your tower? Don't think I've ever seen that before.
