BTW - I'm not bashing the Z3, it's an awesome boat, this is just my friends and I's observation's. My one buddy called it "the Mayflower" when he drove it. The other buddy just sold his Epic 23V on Friday and was interested in the Z3 and couldn't get past how slow it turns in comparison to his boat but the Epic's do have dual rudder's to assist. I've driven with and without the VX on too, no difference. Sorry about the thread hijack...

Thats interesting about the comments from the Epic owner. I went along on a sea trial last Sunday with a couple that currently own an 09 Epic and want out of it cause they say it handles like a barge, especially at slow speeds. They were demoing a 23' MB B52, which is no small boat and loved how it handles at idle speed and surf speed.

That is interesting especially considering you can almost steer an Epic in reverse, only v-drive I've ever driven where the boat actually goes left in reverse when you steer it that way. LOL!

I So I am right now a; throw the kids around on a tube for 3 hours, then surf for 30 minutes or as long as the kids behave for the wife while she is driving kind of guy.

If Tige will sell me a VX I only spend $1,600 on the VX and an additional $1,000 for the gel work. It might be worth it versus spending buco cash on a new out of the box surf boat. Damn you Tige for making me have to decide. That is if you will sell me, I mean my dealer a VX...

Once Tige catches up, I too hope they will sell the VX to any Tige owner. The trick will be getting it mounted. I think that will be messy.

Ewok, throw a flap on there until the VX becomes available. With your 2009 brackets, a flap is super cheap and easy.

Ragboy, do you know if Tige is planning on adding that 300 lbs to their ballast systems and making that standard with the VX? Seems like if you need to add it that they should be making a bigger surf ballast system as an option. That hull is so deep that one would think that they could figure out a way to make a bigger hard tank under the floor or something.

One more question, when ordering a ballast system with the Convex VX, should people be ordering the Pro ballast or Surf ballast option?

Yeah, that is the point -- I am only running a flap until a VX solution or some other wave shaping solution is available for an 09.

I don't know if they are adding more to the rear, I think the idea of always having plug and play so you can easily do what you want is at least the current plan.

As far as pro or surf, IMHO, no matter what you need pro on every boat we have tested.

With the Z1/Z3 I wish they would either design a custom bag that would wrap around the bow but also come back under where the wind screen goes or move the ballast under the floor completely and create a plug and play system but they have came along way since 2006/2007 when I first started running them.

I've owned an Epic and the dual rudders did nothing for me in reverse.
Same issue I've had with every inboard ever. I found it to be a gimmick.

Really? Which model did you have? Your profile shows a 22 SX but that is the Toyota Epic and not Epic Boats.

I was referring to the center walk through seats I know they have them under the seats boxed off on the pro system at least.
