what fluids do I use for my Tranny and V-drive? Do I need to use marine engine oil in the 5.7 merc or can I just use regular engine oil?

My 08 with the ZF Tranny uses ATF in the Transmission and 30wt in the Vdrive, I buy mine at WalMart. Unsure about what tranny you have in your boat but oil choices and opinions are very popular around here. I'm sure you will get plenty of adviceOriginally posted by Fire_medic View Post

No, you do not need to use marine-grade oil, but there is a benefit to it as it has a higher level of moisture inhibitor.
If your 05 have the Walter V-drive, it will take 30W non-detergent motor oil.
