    2012 throttle

    I need opinions/info on the new throttle. We demoed the RZ2 yesterday and my fiancé loved it. Only thing is she HATED the throttle. She is a new boat driver but was able to dock the Bu VLX yesterday no problem. She struggled with the Tige. She keeps bringing up the throttle and how it's the only thing she doesn't like. Anyone know if there is a different throttle lever available? I honestly think the curve in the lever was a big factor. Also it is super tight from the factory and I know it will loosen up but any idea how much. I know it's new for this year so im going to go out on a limb here and say there isn't a ton of experience with it yet.

    I personally had no issues with it and I have to say the RZ2 is the most fun I've ever had driving a boat. I swear it was like a 22' jet ski mixed with a roller coaster! It was AWESOME!

    It definitely takes some getting used to. I drove an RZR last summer and it was way touchier than my old RZ2. So I take it you took the boat up to 35 and did some power turns then? Which boat did you drive, was it that tan one? What did you think of the 343?

      Most I've talked to say the same thing about how responsive the new throttle is but they get used to it quickly, I've not tried one myself

          Oh yeah Timmy we did the turns at 35 about 15 times it was so fun! The first time Nick was going to do it he said hold on. I did not grab a handle and went from one side of the boat to the other! So glad I didn't fall in. We did take the black and tan one out with the 343. I was amazed at how well that engine did. We put 2k in ballast in it to mimic the pro ballast set up and it handled it like a champ. We decided of we go Tige we aren't going to upgrade to the 409 and save that money.

          Overall I was just absolutely amazed at how well the Tige handled. I had a grin from ear to ear as we pit that boat through the paces. My buddy who is interested in an RZR came along and said out of all the boats he has been in the Tige was by far the best. I came away with a similar impression.

            Glad you liked the boat! I tried telling people on that WW thread that the RZ2 doesn't need the 409hp engine even up here at altitude. The Tige hull really lends itself to getting up on plane fast. It's funny, we were driving by Willow Bay yesterday while coming home from a swim meet in Brighton and I asked my daughter if she remembered the lake and she said "oh yeah, that's where we did all of those fun turns in that yellow Tige that we test drove.". That was almost 6 years ago and she still remembers that test drive. Pretty funny! Good luck with your decision! Bill, Nick and the WWS crew will take good care of you if you buy one, there's a reason they sell so many boats there, good customer service!

              Too tight is news to me! The 2012 Z3 we drove last Sept at the Mead event was so soft and you could hardly eve tell that is was in gear. Talltigeguy nearly tossed me off the swim platform when he accidentally goosed the throttle.

              Im willing to bet that there is a tensioner set screw that can be backed off a little to loosen up the feel.

                Bruizza, glad to hear that your demos went well. As much as I want to see in you and your soon to be misses in a Tige. It's about what fits the both of you, and what you both are comfortable with. I find it odd that it's "tight". My 20v is smooth as butter. I believe CHP is right that there is an adjustment screw for the throttle.

                Keep us updated regardless of what you buy.

                  If there is an adjustment screw that would be perfect! When I say tight I mean the actual shifting in and out feels like you need more pressure. I had no problems with it but my girl did. It didn't help that the wind kicked up between the Bu and Tige demos. Im thinking of trying to take it out one more time this week in better conditions and let her try it again.

                    Is that boat that you drove already sold or is it available? I was thinking that they sold that one at the boat show.

                      It is still available. About the only boat there that's for sale other than the RZ4.

                        Bruizza we had a 2007 22VE which had the Marine Power 340 hp and we felt like the PCM343 hp was much more responsive and touchy at first. Then after a few weeks we had adjusted to it and didn't even notice it after that. But like Chpthril said it's so smooth in and out of gear you don't even know it's in gear.If you had the bimini up when the wind picked up it creates a lot of drag like a sail.So it's hard to dock.Shirley docks and loads our boat in the wind with the Bimini up all the time,but that doesn't mean she likes it.I think it's all about confidence,knowing the input and amount of throttle to give the boat in a certain situation.Time behind the wheel will cure any problems she has.It's funny you mention the carving back and forth in the water.Shirley loves to do that and all the people at the campground like to go for rides and ask her to cut it hard again and again.That RZ2 is a smooth operator.

                          The throttle on my new RZR was very 'loose' or sensative when we first got it. We removed the panel that the throttle mounts to in order to notch the corner and install a WS420 under the compartment below the Tige Touch. We we first put it back together, my installer tightened the throttle adjustment too much and it was very hard to put it in gear.

                          He pulled adjusted it this past week while we were working on it and it's much better and not near as touchy as it was originally.

                              I completely forgot to take some pics after we were done. I'll take some next week when we head back to the river. It turned out pretty nice.
