taking apart wet sounds pro series. HELP

Im trying to break down the pro60 and pro80 and get the shells ready for paint. is there anything I need to be cautious of. I know the pro 80 grill has three screws and something else but I didnt want to break it.

IIRC, you have a grill, speaker and then nose piece. All the screws should be visible. The grill and speaker will come out easy, but the nose piece (section between the speaker and main body of the pod) might be tough to get to separate. After that, you have the clamp and sire pass-thru to remove. If you hit a road block, give a holla, im in the shop all day working.

This may be a dumb question, but do you have to remove the speaker internals to remove the pods from the Alpha z? I was thinking about painting mine as well but didn't see how to remove them.

Yes, you do need to pull the speaker driver from the pod. Then you will find a pair of 7/16 headed bolts that go from the inside of the pod threading into the tower. You will also need to either unplug the speaker leads or snip the butts, depending on how they were done. I know the current X mounts have a 2-conductor plug in the pod and then a pigtail that gets spliced to the tower harness.

Slight hijack here: What is involved in running new wires through an Alpha Z tower? Those wire holes behind the speaker mounts are so small I doubt a traditional fish tape would pass through them. My two unused speaker spots are prewired, but I've thought about pulling the speaker wire and replacing it with something else (such as coax for a camera, for example). I could pull the new wire with the old, but how is the original wire installed in the first place?

There are 4 pairs of 2-conductor speaker wire that runs from the starboard to the port side, through the tower bass. The two tower lights run from the port to the starboard, then down through the tower bass to the helm. In the ones ive done, the speaker wires are red and black and the lights are blue and black. Fishing the tower is a breeze, but if you need to cross from the port to the starboard, you need to pull the top plate that holds the pivoting light/tow point by removing the 4 allen screws. This exposes a small raceway for the wires.

You are couple days late for pics, I just hung a pair of REV-8's and fished for LEDs for the REV and the Pro60's on a 2011 RZ2.
