Tool bag and Essential Boat Tools

I think I have absolutely everything I need now except for my boat and a dedicated tool kit/bag to keep inside the boat. Although I've never really been a fan, I bought one of the nicer Leatherman multitools to keep on the boat. I'll definitely add some crimpers, connectors, various fuses, etc.

What is everyone else using or think is vital to have onboard?

I keep a large socket wrench that is the right size for the trailer rims. That way, I always have what I need to change a flat. My tow vehicle has different sized lugs.

You must have a volt meter, spare wire (some 10ga and some 14ga), extra extra long jumper cables, goggles to dive under the boat and free the prop from your tow rope, a minimum of 6 rain coats with hoods (various sizes) for that one day you get pounded on.

Good call on the goggles...my wife will need them when she runs over the rope. JK, I hope. I'd really not be happy if my new orange leather wrapped Frank mainline got chopped up.

Thats a good idea on the knife and googles. I normally keep nothing on the boat, other than a cellphone. If I could find a multi-tool on the cheap it would be a good idea though.

Besides most of the stuff listed here, I also keep a spare impeller and all the tools to replace one. I also keep a spare water/fuel separator.

Extra long jumper cables is another good one. Mine will actually reach from the truck to the boat so I can jump it while its on the trailer, in the water of coarse.

I also keep a dedicated boat towing rope in the boat. You don't want to use that fancy wakeboard rope to tow either you or somebody else back to the ramp.

I am sure there is more. The way I figure the more the merrier. as long as it stows nicely. Extra Ballast and Peice of mind. I'll be going through it and updating for the new boat this spring. On my Old I/O you never know where you might be floating for a while

We keep all the Coast Guard safety requirements on board plus boat registration on our boat because we get pulled over at least every other outing. Something to do about our music too loud.

You been going through my boat??? I have all that stuff in mine. And I have used that first aid kit more than once! And you are correct, it has to be in a nice canvas bag so you can move it to whichever side your surfing at the moment

I'll add that on a big lake like ours a good set of anchors is one of the most important things you can have during a break down. I broke down once trying to get back to the docks during some high winds and if it weren't for the anchors on board the boat would have been smashed in the rocks with the storm swells.
