New Year... 1st. on the water?

No kidding. It's been 10F or more over normal almost every day this winter. We are WAY behind on snowpack, and our lake has never frozen over. Most years it's covered with ice fishermen, ATV's, snowmobiles... but this year it's stayed liquid except around some edges and a couple of shaded areas.

We had a high pressure system sit off the coast for SIX WEEKS the latter half of November and most of December. Absolutely nothing happened weather-wise, it all got routed north or south of the Pacific Northwest. And by "nothing happened", I mean it was so bad we had stagnant air warnings for three weeks.

This winter sucks.

This was the dryest December EVER for Salt Lake City.

Oddly enough, the Lake Powell snowpack is at 59% of normal. I thought it would be even worse.

I was able to get out with two friends Sunday morning 1/08. We each got 1 set in then headed to the boat show. Air was about 65ish and water was 53. We pulled out right as fog lifted and sun came out. No pics-to foggy.

This was the dryest December EVER for Salt Lake City.

Driest December for Spokane since 1901 (IIRC). December is normally our wettest month.

We've had so little snow I've never started the snowblower. Heck, I haven't even SHOVELED snow yet. I am not kidding.

We have great snow up at Schweitzer. I am going backcountry splitboarding this weekend and it's gonna be epic!

My brother lives in Salt Lake and I am going skiing next week. He says it is most all man made snow.

I am glad to see someone riding the old school jetski. Thats what I ride and not many here can. It is funny to watch people try and can,t get it. When I say I jetski most think of the sit down style.

Did you live here the last couple of seasons? THOSE were epic. I've been to Schweitzer twice so far this year and it's nowhere even close. Coverage is spotty in places, particularly in the Snow Ghost area, and tree skiing is iced over or too shallow in all but a few spots. I check their website every single day and they've been getting a couple of inches here and there, but no real dumps so far this entire season. They said they got "six inches on the gauge" a couple of days ago and my wife remarked "That's what counts as a big storm this year." Sadly, she's right.

Been out today for the second time this year, winter here is tough, air temp around 80 today and water around 76!
My 'winter' project was to take my mini top off !! Was choppy today though but we had a few hours surfing on our new IS Sweetspot, will post some pics later

Here in socal, wakeboarding is a year-round sport.
