    "PROPER PROP" :)

    Want to see if everyone is willing to post what prop they use and their year and style of boat. After buying a new prop I saw a lot of threads about calling ACME and telling them all your info but I think it would be nice to be able to find a thread and see what everyone is using so as to compare.. Include as much or as little info as you want.. I wanna see if ACME is straight across the board in their advice on the "Proper Prop"...I trust them but just curious..


    Boat Type: 2001 Tige 2100V LTD

    Body of water where operated: Chesapeake Bay/Pax Riv

    Eleveation: Sea Level

    Prop Original: R5711 14 x 18.5 LH Stainless Steel

    New Prop: ACME 1847 14 x 14.25 LH .150 cup

    Prop choice depends on your use and the weight you use it at and Hp vs RPM

    And it boils down to personal opinion

      okay... what r u rolling.. you just ignored the whole meaning of this thread...I'm not asking what your opinion is bro... just seeing what people are using...no need to hit me up with "it boils down to personal opinion"...IMHO...

        1999 21V
        Black V-drive 1:1 ratio
        Mercruiser 315HP

        I don't know what model my original prop was but it was a 13X13.5 4-blade

        I called ACME and he suggested over the phone exactly what he's suggested to others in posts similar to this, the ACME 579, but when I told him I didn't care about top end, he changed his suggestion to the 911.

        I took the 911 for the first time last night and I was a bit depressed that I was running 4300RPM and crawling along at 34MPH.
        While I really don't care much about top end, it did seem a bit slow to me and I don't like winding my motor up that high.
        I run about 1700LBS of ballast and another 800-1000lbs of people.
        Waiting for another good one!

          I carry three props with me. Run a 1235 when 8 or more passangers with 3k of ballast less than 8 people a 911 and with just 3 peeps I run a 857.

            I have the Blue Drive but I wonder how much different mine will be... great info though! Thanks for posting your stuff up! I hope to put my 1847 up tomorrow.. then run it Saturday weather permiting.. I think this can turn out to be a good informational feed...

              Damn.. that's crazy! Just messing with ya.. You must be a pro at changing your prop out then huh? They're reverse threaded right? I'm hoping not to have to get a prop puller...

                2007 Tige 20i.
                I'm running a stock 3-blade ACME 13 x 11.5 with gears in the tranny. Not sure what the over-drive is, but it's not a 1:1. I tried the stock prop for Fiver's 21. It's a 13 x 13.5. My boat didnt really like it, but it worked ok. I went back to my stocker and am selling the 13 x 13.5.

                With the stock prop, I top out at 49-51, and when barefooting, from a dead stop to standing (34-ish mph) is right at 7 seconds. It's extremely quick.

                  You took a big jump down in pitch... I am slowly learning, changes in pitch should be in 1" increments. I think if I had gone to a 13 x 12.5, I would have been better off.

                    Ok so there are 2 v-drive ratios normally used. Basically 1:1 and 1:1.5. Those aren't exact ratios but that is the general. 1:1.5 is more efficient at pushing a boat and that is why most boat manu's have switched over. I changed my old boat from a 1:1 to a 1:1.5 and saw a major gain in efficiency. 911 is a great prop for 1:1 and 1579 is a great prop with stock diameter on the 1:1.5. This is for heavily weighted boats though. Acme techs are crazy smart. I would trust them

                    I run a 1579 in my 2005 Tige 24v and love it!

                      I have an 02 23v, that I switch v-drives from a 1:1 to a 1.46:1 so it's the same as the blue v-drives. I'm actually running the exact same spec prop as you, but it's a 1433. Not sure the difference but it's a 14x14.25, which is the biggest prop I can run on my boat.

                      It's an amazing prop, you are going to love it. Super good hole shot, top end not so much but I can still cruise at 30mph at around 3500 rpms. I ran a 1579 (13.5x14.25) last year after I switched out my v-drive, and it had a good hole shot, but rpms were a little higher than the 1433. I keep that as a spare now.

                      Before I switched my v-drive, I ran the stock 13x13 until I started adding ballast. Then it was 579, and then 911. The 911 was a good running prop, I just always felt like my engine was working to hard. That's why I switched to a gear reduction.

                      Now with the gear reduction and the 1433 a mere 4000lbs of water and four dudes planes out no problem. Plus the wake is a monster.

                        Here are my stats:

                        Boat - '01 21v Riders
                        Elevation - as sea level as it can get (San Diego)
                        Prop - ACME 381

                        I don't usually weight the boat, but it's always full of people. And for reference, I have the blue v-drive.

                          Boat- '01 21v riders, live in phoenix, Prop is 14x18 1/2 stainless
                          talked to Acme today, they said I should replace with #381. He also said if I wanted some more speed, I should go with 3 blade #801

                            What V-drive unit do you have? The blue 1.5:1 ?
