Got Tower Camera?

I think pricing the individual option of the tower camera is not true picture of cost/benefit.

For example I would bet that most, if not all, people that own these kinds of boats would not hesitate to add the 1500 dollar factory Nav system to their SUV, nor would they hesitate to check the 1200 box for the rear entertainment system for the kiddo's, when they could go to a stereo shop and buy those items cheaper.

Anyway, that's why my boat will have one.

I am sure that everyone at TIGE is buying one of these now. Sell one in the tower and buy a good camera for yourself That has to be the promotion. Heck the more they add in technology to the boats the more problems you will have and they will have. It is a great option but for sure not an option I would add.

I've seen it in action. IMO quality was poor for the money. I'd rather buy a Go Pro or use my iPhone. A lot better quality. But I do have to admit it give a cool angle for shooting videos.

That's my biggest problem with a GoPro: As I understand it, they do not have a live video output. Thus you cannot connect them to a monitor at the dash and use them for live video. I believe this is also true of the Contour, a GoPro competitor.

I would LOVE to be wrong about this, as it would solve several video system challenges I'm currently facing for this Spring's mods.

EDIT: This caused me to do deeper research. Looks like you can hack a GoPro to provide a live video output. Perhaps that will suffice for your application. In mine, I'm still probably going with a standalone camera because I'm going to install it within the hull. I don't like cameras or other protruberances sticking up where they can be toe-stubbers or damage risks. This means I won't have easy access to the buttons and controls on the camera - it needs to simply power up and operate.

Also, be careful of the GoPro/Contour lenses. They seem to have really wide angles (170 degrees is a common figure I've seen in their spec sheets). That's too wide for capturing surfers right behind the boat IMHO.

Go Pro has wifi back option on the way that will stream to a iPhone or iPad when paired.

Contour already has this ability with bluetooth.

So no wiring needed, wires are just about done for everything except power.

If you were to look at the MSRP of every option you could probally find them for less somewhere on the internet, but the bottom line is thats not what they sell for, its whats the out the door price of the entire boat optioned out,
I personally would like the boat manufacturers to offer packages, like the car industry.
(1) EXTREEM package, 2000lbs ballast, tower of power stereo,clamping board racks and camera
(2) SALTWATER EDITION, floor drains, anodes, freshwater cooling, flushing unit , stainless hatch struts.
(3) COMFORT package, bimini with extension, windscreen, pull out cooler , and extension latter, possibly a table.
When purchased as a package you get a reduced price because grouping of the options.

Has anyone tried the wakejak camera mount? Wakejak.com

Wake jack works great. Gopro's field of view is too wide but it will work with any camera. Downside is it doesn't work well if you pull doubles. It's a one rider solution. We pull kids doubles a lot so that made the wake jack not work well for my purposes.
