Yes but that is not the kinda of diesel engine you speak of you said heavier with lots of torque. That will not be cost efficient like a jetta diesel. Yes those are cost effective but the diesel that your boat would need will not be anything like that one.

ya you are right there but with technology and demand it could happen... Also I think the weight wouldn't even be enough to write home about a 350 engine weighs aroudn 700 pounds and a v8 diesel is probably 100-150 pounds heavier... but I think a marine grade v6 diesel would be a hot seller and would probably be the equivalent weight wise to a 350... but again there needs to be the demand and technology available to do this... some company just needs to buck up and try it
