They are both good boats. If you are going to wakesurf at all, and that is important to you, that will tip the scale heavily to the RZ2.

And believe me, he has tested and tested and tested. Surfing is his life. Haha

Along with what has been already said, I am 6'2" and when I sat in the Supra, my knees were up in my chin. It felt like the seating was about ankle high to me. We have small kids and the low freeboard was also a concern. Along with that, a couple of friends have Supras (nice boats) and they have to be super cautious about not dipping the bow.

The seller for me is that the Tige is more versatile for watersports.

Being taller, I had a hard time with the short seats as well.

The versatility is important. I did not realize that when I bought my X45, that I cannot get a clean wake for wakeboarding at speeds less than 22-23 MPH. So my girls and younger kids have to either have a wake full of whitewash, or since they have not yet learned how to avoid faceplants, they faceplant at higher speeds. IIRC, the RZ2 without ballast can create a nice smooth transition even at lower speeds.

When I sell my boat in the fall or next spring, then the most likely boat I will get, depending on how the new dealer in Vegas demonstrates good customer service, will be an RZ2.

These would be the two boats I would have narrowed it down to as well, the RZ2 and the SSV. A few things would persuade me to the RZ2. First would be the seating. As others have stated, Tige has really stepped it up in the last couple of years and the interiors have come a long way. They easily have the edge on the Supra. Especially the Vision Air drivers seat. Another would be the surf that Tige puts into their boats. It has become a huge part of on water performance these day and just as Tige has always done, they listen to the people and have given them what they want. That is another reason, Tige listens. We here at Tige Owners have had a lot of input on these new boats. When you buy one, you can thank us for all the wonderful little things you'll find on your new boat (the transom seating area was my idea). In all seriousness, they do listen and many improvements to the boats are a direct result of Tige asking us what they should do. It's really pretty cool.

Drive them both and get the one you feel good in.

Be glad you didn't buy from the central AR dealer for the Malibu. I wouldn't trust that guy for anything. I drug my boat back and forth all last summer when he was the Tige dealer AND he never fixed ANYTHING!!! He charged Tige for the warranty work though. He's a shady character. Just my opinion anyway.

I went through this exact same process a few weeks back with Tige, Supra, and Malibu. I had the opportunity to go out and drive all 3 in one day. Going into it I was pro-Malibu and my girlfriend was pro-Supra (she had one before). After driving all 3, we both felt that the Tige RZ2 was the best boat of the bunch. Most notably for the reasons you asked about.

Tige
- Had the best wake, especially for surfing which we were eager to try.
- Had far more room than the other 2. Most notably in the bow.
- Handled waves/choppy water the best.
- Handling wasn't as responsive as the Malibu, but the rollover was far less than the others. Much smoother turns.
- Tige Touch
- We both felt the Tige was the best all around boat. Whether its pulling kids on a tube, wakeboarding/wakesurfing, or just parked listening to tunes the RZ2 covered all our needs.
- Best exterior (tie with the Wake Setter) and best interior

Two things I really liked about the Supra was the Marine Navigation and the engine diagnostics. It would be nice for Tige to integrate that with the Tige Touch. My girlfriend really liked all the rear facing seating in the Supra along with the deep seating in the bow. All 3 boats were great in their own right, the RZ2 just felt like a better fit.

Ding ding ding! This is the one point I don't like about their's and a few other boats.

Another thing about the Supras.... supposedly they have a deep V that will cut right through chop. In my experience this isn't so! My buddy has the very boat you are looking at and while I will be cruisin along about 45-50 on REALLY rough days, he has to slow it down to 25-30. Combine that w/ the low freeboard and it's spooky if ur family is on board.

That being said, both are great boats. The supra is very luxurious. You'll be happy w/ both. Good luck in your search.

To echo a few others, supra was one of the boats we looked at heavily when we were bought our 2007 24Ve. The interior was nice, very high quality, but we could not get past the playpen bow, I really dislike those, I won't to put my feet on the floor, my wife hates those also. And the low seats, I am 6'2". Sanger has those low seats also.

I haven't posted in a while as I no longer have my 08 RZ4. I hope to have a boat in the future, but it will likely be a while.

I will say that I loved my boat for the most part. However, the interior in mine was dissappointing. I was also frustrated with the so called cooler. Why don't they design a removeable cooler similar to the Mastercraft or others that actually keep things cool. They didn't even bother to insulate mine. I keep hearing that Tige has improved the interior, which I am sure is true, but the 36 oz vynal is still not as heavy as the Malibu 38 oz and I would guess the Mastercraft is also superior. This is a big deal to me as the interior takes a beating no matter how careful you are. I would be interesting in hearing if someone knows how good the vynal really is on the 2010 models.

When we were looking back in 06 (chose the Tige 22ve) that playpen was one thing that did the Supra in. I did not like the idea of stepping up on a cousin and at the same time, stooping down to avoid hitting the bimini, just to go to the bow. The other was the fact that as driver, I felt locked into the drivers seat and was unable to move freely around the boat. This was not a good feeling to have if there was a need to get out of the drivers seat in a hurry! Other then that Supra was on the short list, it was just how the boat was configured that changed out minds. I dont know if the new models are different, but this was our experience 4 yrs ago.

We went by and looked at their place. He just sold his last VLX that morning and had a hideous orange/tan 23 lsv still available. The Malibu we drove was their promo guys boat. His boat was loaded and he was very nice for letting take a test drive. He had Melissa Marquardt in town giving his daughter lessons, so I hated to impose.

One thing I will say is I've been very impressed with Diamond Lakes. They were easy to work with and went out of their way to let us test drive what we were looking for. They don't even carry Malibu but gave the promo guy a call to see if he wouldn't mind taking us out. We will definitely keep giving them business in the future.

The Tige Owners Forum was a selling point for me. I checked out the other forms (several years ago - in fairness not Supras) and found that the Tige forum had the most valuable information. As others have said, the most important test will be a test drive. Bring all of your toys and test out both boats while skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, etc and not just drive the boat. Driving is better than nothing, but test out the boat on what you like to do.

I own an 07 RZ2 and ride an 08 Supra 22v often too.

The biggest things I notice the most between our two boats is this.

1. The wake boarding wake on his Supra is much more vertical than mine. The RZ2 is rampier.
2. The freeboard is shallow on the Supra, the RZ2 is deep.
3. The Supra cavitates a lot when turning. This only happens when its loaded down with a lot of ballast, over 2000lbs.

In any event you cant go wrong with either boat. They are both great boats depending on what your goals are.

I absolutely agree about Diamond Lakes. Supra was on my short list mostly because of them. Much like most everyone else, I couldn't get past the playpen bow and the short freeboard with small kids.
I can call John at Diamond Lakes and he will do his best to answer even the dumbest of questions and will even call me back if he doesn't have an answer right away. Needless to say, I was very happy when they picked up Tige. I can't figure out how the Malibu dealer is still in business.

Where are you going to be this weekend? I think I passed you going the other direction in Hot Springs. It was probably 3 weeks ago, late afternoon. I have an '07 RZ2 that's blue and black. Some friends invited us to Hamilton for the day on Saturday. I'm sure I'll be pissing blood and will need to see a back surgeon after combat boating on that lake. Hopefully, we'll get there early enough to get some activities in before all the wallys are out. If you are dumb enough to join me on Hamilton let me know.

I am an evil brand X owner but the guys on Tige owners are the most objective on any of the brand forums. Sure they lean a certain way but don't over sell it and don't always wear owners goggles. Also this is by far the most helpful board when it comes to day to day questions on boating. I have been in a worlds never in an RZ2 but the 20v I was in handled like a dream and big chop and rollers were cake. I would lean Tige if it were me. I don't like the dash set up on Supra nor the feeling of sitting on the floor. Wish I had your problem and so does Dom.
