Two weeks ago we took our 2008 22ve on our annual "camping" trip to Lake Ouachita, about 30 minutes from home. Prior to vacation we'd taken the boat out, primarily with the goal of getting through my break-in period as much as possible before the week. In short, changed the oil after about 1.5 hours, then after about 6 hours.
I also finally bought an "old guy" ski, a 69" Radar Terrain, replacing my 30+ year old 67" Jobe. Just don't have the upper body strength for a deep water start the past two years (getting up on 2 and dropping one). I also tried wakeboarding after a 3-4 year hiatus, and was quickly reminded by my left knee exactly WHY I stopped wakeboarding. Even did a bit of kneeboarding toward the end of the week, but by that time I was just about worn out.
The boat is everything I hoped for when we bought it last year. Still got some stuff to work on, but WOW, what a great boat for taking extended family to the lake! Room for everyone and their stuff, sides are plenty high for the little ones, and no engine in the center of the boat!
I will say this: I didn't realize until this week just how much of a hotrod our old '96 Supra LaBrisa was. It has the same engine size as the Tige, but 900 lbs. lighter, 2 feet shorter (and holds 7 fewer people, the main reason we got rid of it). The LaBrisa will turn on a dime, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Tige turns. Not a pivot, but if you turn the wheel she'll dig in and power around in a tight radius. Helpful for running in the coves that Lake Ouachita has that provides some nice protected water.
Anyway, we put another 15 hours on her during the week, so changed the oil out one last time before getting into our normal maintenance schedule.
Have a good one,
Mike
